Far from great as a coach. I mean his big accomplishment was finishing 3rd in the WC with Germany. At home. Are you kidding me. Like that's a great accomplishment.

But on a purely personal note I would love to see Klinsy get fired just because I hate him for being a weird combo of German + OC yoga. And the Lando thing of course.

In case you've forgotten, the German NT absolutely blew when JK took over (the '02 team didn't beat a single decent team all tournament, and their Euro '00 and '04 teams were a total disaster). He completely changed their style of play and laid the foundation for the years to come. Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Loew, these guys were complete unknowns when JK took over. And by the way, with far superior squads, Loew didn't win anything until four tournaments later. There's a reason he got hired at Bayern Munich next (after his first choice-the US-turned him down).

Getting the USNT to play quality soccer (2013-2014) for the first time in its history is a huge accomplishment for a manager, but completely revamping a dying national team and laying the groundwork for future success is probably an even bigger one. JK may not be a world class coach but he is hands down the best manager we ever had and is far better than anyone that would actually consider coaching us. The names that people throw around are hilarious. You guys are delusional if you think that one of the MLS coaches will get us to play any better, and even more delusional if you think someone like Bielsa would head our way. (He's the only manager out there willing to take on 'projects' seemingly beneath his CV, and even then, I don't think the USNT would be appealing to him at all.)

This cycle hasn't been very good but JK booked himself a ticket to Russia after how amazing last cycle went (and putting in a decent performance at the Copa America). We're going to qualify, we're going to be fine, and it's way too early for the pitchforks.

There is a difference between playing quality soccer and getting results. You can get results through resolve and cohesiveness but without skill.

The last time I feel this bad was when we lost to Mexico in the Gold cup final of 2011 (last game for Bob Bradley).

I feel like this is the last straw that broke the camel's back for JK. Not sure who can replace him, but I think that he has lost the player's ears & respect, and this is the reason that he needs to go.

We aren't playing well right now. We sure played well during that time period, better than we ever did in our history. '02 was our greatest accomplishment ever, sure, but it didn't happen because of the quality of our play. JK brought the program to a new level last cycle by teaching us to actually string together more than two passes in a row. By the end of the cycle we were a much more dangerous team than we ever had been because we actually had different ways to beat our opponents. Not only could we defend well, we also could maintain possession and even attack against decent opposition. We also played some of the grittiest soccer we've ever played.

But there's no point in even wasting time responding to you. You're the guy who has created like five different profiles on here to spam us all on how great and important to the national pool Freddy Adu is! Completely embarrassing.

And to be completely fair DragonEagle, That 2011 team was THE MOST dangerous team we've ever had with players fitting their natural positions and doing their individual jobs and having an identity of the counter attack. It's another Mandela effect question, what if Cherundolo never got injured in that gold cup final...what would this team look like today.... Bob Bradley was FINALLY on to something when he made shocking call ups that nobody understood but himself but the thing is HE BENEFITED from his decisions 100% He would still be coach if cherundolo had not gotten hurt. all of Klinsmann's head scratching decisions literally stay that way. He has never made a shocking call up that has benefited this team in any way.

Some people will defend jk no matter what. We can miss out on the WC and they will still support him and want him to continue as a coach even if we lose every single game in the hex.
If you ask most people they will say he should of been fired after the loss to Jamaica yet he is still here.

We might not need a big name anyways. We have better and have had better players than Costa Rica and look what they did in 2014. With players playing their real positions. With a REAL coach. Not a motivator. Not a scout. Not a coach who tries a new formation the day of a very important match. Not some guy who wants his pet to keep playing despite aging, that tries him at CB. Or takes his other german puppies, who suck or get no playing time. I am good with our identity of football. All heart, grit, hustle, and counter attacks. I would sign on Costa Rica's World Cup performance over the Group of Death. Over 3-4 place on this Copa America. It's been 5 years. And Klinsmann still cant get through his head that Jones and Bradley cant work. Why? Why Dolcem? Why Dunlopp? 5 years and no LB? Why? We have LBs and he is the coach. He is supposed to make them better. He can throw other players in to the water and out of their confort zone but cant call in a real LB to test him out lol.

If you cannot think outside of the box and name at least 5 snubbed players not on this roster, then what is the point of having this convo? This is exactly my problem with this site. To many know-it-all idiots how literally have two brain cells that are constantly fighting one another lol.... Seriously you can't think of a starting XI with players that sat the bench yesterday and snubbed players that would give any JK team a run for its $$$?

Resorting to name calling truly shows your intelligence....or lack thereof.

I surely can think of snubbed players. Several.

You noted that "superior" players are getting benched and not called up. I just wanted to know who these "superior" players were in your opinion.

Go have a drink bro.

Everyone is losing their minds over a result that has happened every time we played CR in WCQ. It's been 3-1, 3-0, or 2-0 at their place going all the way back. If Jurgen loses at home vs Honduras then come talk to me.
If you don't love it, leave it, USA #1

Nope is not just the result is also the way we been playing. And in case you forgot we lost to mexico at Home in Columbus where we Have NEVER lost. So that was the last straw!!! Also that was our worst lost in WCQ HISTORY cant make that stuff up.
If he does stay i think he should be pressured the next 2 games in WCQ 6 points or your out nothing less. A lot of countries do that to their coaches.

It's the way the team lost. The way the players gave up on the coach. On each other. The team had no heart. Back then, when the US lost or was losing, they kept running. They kept hustling their asses off. By the second goal, it was over. Dare i say by the first. This team is dead.

Not going to argue about this since we're likely to remain in our respective camps here, but will point out the irony that if we do trot out Arena for another go before March, Arena was the last coach before the Mexico game to lose a home qualifier: against Honduras, 2001 (the 10 AM kick in Honduras North (RFK)).
