On paper Mexico has a much stronger squad than ours they have a heavy Euro team and all those players are key to their clubs. But all that matters is what you do on the field I think we will come out with more energy and set the tone early. I still think Tim Howard will need to make some huge saves.

Agree 100% about Mexico having a very strong squad that is in good form. IMO if there was ever a year that 2-0 ends, it's this one.

Yeah I don't mind if the 2-0 scoreline ends as long as we win and not lose.

65 degrees farenheit, it's like all these stars are aligning to disappoint us...

What would be the narrative if Pulisic bags 3 goals to Mexico's 2 goals, and basically dominating the game? Like a smash and grab? lol Because that's what I fear we're going to need.

I still believe we should put plenty of beef out there and kick the crap out of the Mexicans legs. When the game opens up, get players like Morris out there with his speed.

65/45 is perfect weather for soccer. We will have all the fan advantage and our players are rounding into form nicely (Altidore, Pulisic, Bradley, Fabian, Chandler/Yedlin, Brooks, Howard they are all performing quite well...) - I think Jozy and Pulisic on form alone must be considered dangerous to the Mexicans, even if we bunker somewhat, we have attackers that can put up a goal going 3 v 4.

I hope to see Jermaine Jones play a good game for the Rapids this weekend, I think his mentality will be a big help if he can prove he is ready to play. Even 45-60' of Jones would be a plus, and then get him off the field as the game opens up.

Right what I was saying was it's not the cold conditions "cold war" that Mexican's psychologically are afraid of. Or at least, their publications. Like a night game at the Azteca with cool breeze is a god sent to us.

Hopefully Pulisic becomes the new Donovan in that they lopside the defensive attention from here on out. Giving midfielders and Jozy a bit of room.

I get it. I just think that weather stuff is bs for the most part. The snowclasico being a perfect example. We got lucky to snatch a win that night. The reason we win is because we have a good team ethic and mentality, and that's what I'm looking for next Friday for us to get that W. Kick the Mexicans, frustrate them, break with speed and clog the midfield. Make them argue on the field. Things applicable to the game. And it will be dark by the time of the game, fans will have had beverages, the atmosphere will be right, and yes it will be a bit chilly. Great environment for a game I wish that I was going.

I agree we win games on our merit, but snowclassico totally took the Costa Ricans out of their game, and then we started possessing the ball better, possibly because the ball wasn't going as fast and easier to kill(trap). I remember thinking, huh, this is what it takes for our guys to pass it around quickly.

Snowpaclypse turned the game into who can push other people while carrying the ball, and that favored our guys.

Looks like we may be without Cameron for these games now...

I think, unfortunately, we now will definitely see Orozco on the roster. Who slides in at CB w/ Brooks? Gonzo? Birnbaum? Besler?

beat me to it BMD

Ya, how many games has Miazga been at Vitesse? lol

No, but yea, this is slowly starting to feel like a huge let down coming up.

Brooks Gonzo, if I were to put money on it. The bigger questoin was the central midfield, Bradley at CDM def now, who pairs with him, 2 or 1 CM?

Never thought I'd say this, but I would use Gonzo against Mexico for the simple reason of familiarity with the opponent. Against Costa Rica, Birnbaum or Besler

Hehe, sorry. Good timing on my part, I was surfing right after it got posted.

I'm still hoping we can keep Dos a Cero alive, but losing Cameron is a pretty significant blow. I agree it's most likely Brooks/Gonzo now. I think if Jones makes through this weekend's playoff game without any setbacks he's in the starting lineup vs Mexico in what ends up shaping into more a 4-4-2.

Wood-Altidore
Pulisic-Jones-Bradley-Bedoya
Johnson-Brooks-Gonzo-Yedlin
Howard

Howard has to start, right? I know Guzan has been the go-to for JK of late when it matters but he's been riding the pine all season...

I support this Lineup, do you think JK would do Something crazy like start Morris or Wood on the flank and include the other as foward?

Its either Gonzo or Birmbaum. I think based on experience and familiarity with the Mexican game it has to be Gonzo. But i worry a bit about him in there. The good thing is we have good players for corners. Gonzo or Birmbaum not much lost there but maintaining possession at the level cameron does will be tougher. I think this lineup will have similar start 11 like the copa america except no deuce. Wood might in the wing again which i hate. Bedoya, Bradley in the CM spots. Not sure if jones will be the 3rd highly doubt it.
