With Josh Gatt back starting for Molde and scoring over the weekend, I won't be surprised if he get's called up for this game. Could be a great change of pace sub.

The USMNT could be so dangerous in this HEX with players getting back healthy, and other players emerging.

I think the missing element would be the chemistry issue, not having played them together for some time, maybe you were saying HEX and referring to the middle to latter parts of the round. I think so too, I think with just Pulisic in the lineup, we're empowered by like 20 percent more.

IMO the transition will occur after the January Camp. I expect the November qualifiers to be the swan song of a number of th 2014 WC Veterans. Come 2017 the younger players (Gooch, Green, Nagbe, Lleget, Morris, Agudelo, etc....) are finally going to push the older generation out or at least to the bench.
The younger guys have the talent and are now gaining the experience. It won't be long before they take over.

I agree. Juergen transitioned important but old players out of his roster before the Hex last time (Boca, Herc). The difference was that the Hex started in February last cycle and our first two games were not nearly as difficult (of course we still lost at Honduras and Costa Rica is a different animal when they are playing at home). I won't be surprised to see the likes of Beckerman get called up for the last time for Mexico and Costa Rica.

I would be tremendously surprised. January much more likely.

this is going to sound facetious... but I feel like winger is the type of position you can exclusively look to with statistics, at least the ready to be tallied ones, like assists goals etc..

you know, last time we had a Scandinavian domestic league outfield player ready to be called in.

Josh Gatt can play attacking soccer. I still think he has a big part to play for USA- as a winger, more than Green, Morris, Zardes, Wood, Gooch or Arriola have. None of those guys really pick out a pass, they are strikers played wide. Yes they are dangerous, but Gatt can provide more service for the strikers, allowing players like Jozy to be at their best. Definitely an option for the next two games, I agree with @2tone.

Gatt should not be called in anytime soon. I'd much rather see Gooch, Arriola, Bedoya, Morris, Agudelo, Rubin called in. Gatt is older than almost all of them, plays in a weaker league, and coming off major surgeries. If he comes back strong all this year, AND stays healthy, AND gets a transfer to a better league, then he should be looked at as an option.

To me the earliest he should be given a look is next fall (ie after the hex, before the world cup)

Hasnt USSF & MLS worked it out in the past to release rosters during halftime? MLS gets some added ratings to there broadcast which helps everyone.

A litlle surprised to see this. You would think since Molde has nothing to play for (cant qualify for europe, will finish in the 4-7 range) that theyd bring him in, then he could stay in USA through the jan camp.

Also speaking of Norway just looked at the standings. Stabek went from qualifying for Europa League with Bradley last year, to finding themselves in the relegation playoffs this year. I guess he made the right choice in when he left

I am guessing he got called up since a number of players for mexico will be playing in liga mx. It is always good to have a player who might be able to point out tendencies from playing against them to the coaching staff. Plus he will be the third goalkeeper zero chance he ends up starting for us in the qualifiers. I will be interested to see if guzan ends up getting dropped for these games. He hasnt played in a while for club plus Horvath looked pretty steady in the frendlies. It would be intresting to have him be the number 2.

How are we feeling about this friendly btw?

I mean, Aside from Chicharito, and Dos Santos in the MLS, don't think there's a Mexican lighting it up, ok maybe fabian in the bundesliga... I think their guys, while being in mid season form, are relatively platueed

I mean ours are too, probably even worse since Dempsey is gone indefinitely.

Our best player right now, literally is Doogie Howser. Second best player, plays his position for club, when he plays. I guess Brooks has been fairly hot. I mean I know D day is coming, but I feel very very weird about this.

Couple with the fact that the biggest test, will be the game against CR.

3 points out of these two games should be the barometer for success although I could probably live with 2 points.

A week out and the weather in Columbus is projected to be a high of 65 and a low of 45 on gameday. I was hoping that it would be a bit colder but ok.
