A goddamn near post header by Rafa Marquez. I'm honestly flabbergasted. That was a great second half and then they give up that. The 3-5-2 was shit and Klinsmann knew it after 20 minutes. Why play scared? Why the new formation when the 4-1-3-2 worked so well at the Copa?

0 points is a travesty and now they have to go earn points someplace they've never done so.

I thought Klinsmann learned his lesson and then he tries something like that when the team obviously wasn't comfortable in a new formation.

I'm almost positive they could've won if he stuck to his guns.

Bradley was selfish and needs to re think his role as a player on this team. To not lay the ball off to Wood was just ridiculous. Entertaining game with other blown chances on both sides but a goal there would've won the game

Rafa's goal was a dagger. Really entertaining game and 1-1 would have been a fitting result.

Pulisic might already be our best player and I can't speak highly enough about Jozy in the second half. Strong performance from him, he was all over the place (in a good way).

I agre about both players. The US players need to get the ball to Pulisic more against Costa Rica. Mexico couldn't handle Pulisic even when they tripled teamed him. Both Jozy and Wood were beasts in the second hallf.

Fabian needs to step it up, though. To many times he goes missing in games.

It was kind of nice to see the respect the Mexican players were giving for Pulisic.

I hate to admit it, but Mehico has been a lot better than us for the last 2 years.

Good game to watch, but once again they were the (slightly) better team. They deserved the win. And remember guys we're at home so we have an advantage.

And I have to say I think it's a little weird you guys posting during the game. I don't know I guess I'm old school. Can't anyone focus on anything for 5 fucking minutes anymore. Seriously, this game wasn't entertaining enough? You had to run to your phone every 10 minutes?

Shit, Pulisic is good. . . He's like melted fucking butter.

Still mad at Bradley today. He got very soft on the first goal, misplayed many "Hollywood" passes across the field when simple passes to closer open team mates were available. But all that pales to not passing Bob Wood the ball on that 2 v 1.... he saw Wood, but also saw glory and he went with the selfish option. We gave Mexico plenty of chances but the best ones fell to the USA and we blew them, most visibly Bradley's non pass to Wood.

Key Takeaways:

Coach K started his best lineup but failed horribly with his openings tactics. I was very excited to see T. Chandler in the lineup due to his solid play in Germany this season and coupled with the fact that F. Johnson would be utilized on the attacking wing. However starting with a back three failed miserably. Switching to a 4-4-2 instantly improved our player positioning.

Losing T. Howard in 1st half was HUGE! Not only was our best and most in form keeper substituted but this also took a vital substitute later on in the game. The interesting thing was the announcer mentioning that Howard was shown stretching his groin area numerously in practice the day before.

M. Bradley looked shell shocked. For some reason it appears that Bradley has a growing tendency for "watching" the game with little or no contribution. You can easily blame the 1st goal on him. He could have been a difference maker in the 2nd half with a simple give and go to B. Wood. However he decided to take the shot. I've been a fan of Bradley for the longest time however for the Defensive Midfield role I truly think we should try the following players:

G. Cameron
D. Williams
A. Morales
P. Kitchen
C. Stanko

J. Altidore & B. Wood looked dangerous considering service was poor throughout the night. Both are 27 & 23 respectively and will be HUGE threats for WC2018 unless injured.

Klinsmann's decision to put in M. Orozco was disheartening. We were at home. We were tied with 15 minutes left. We should have played for the win and not the draw.

Final takeaway: Christian Pulisic is for real. Considering a questionable starting formation and lukewarm support (Bradley & Jones) Christian showed why he is one of the most exciting young talents in the world!

Looking forward to Costa Rica match. 😎

JK said Besler was cramping and couldn't go anymore and he was on a yellow. That wasn't JK's choice

I am beyond upset. During the end of the game herrera yells to Bradley, pinche pelon de mierda me la pelas. And to me, Bradley is way more tham Herrera when they are at their top game but, unfortunately yesterday didnt show. Especially after Bradley decided not to pass the ball to wood. Fucking Bradley man.. Weak going in agaisnt Dos santos. He is my third favorite player, but he is frustrating sometimes. At times i wish he would have Beckerman's ideas of passing the short range ball over the long ones. Fucking shit man. I am pissed. Mexican will think they are the best, when i think we played better after formation change. We missed Cameron.

2 things on that goal. Bobby Wood is better than a Hamburg player and would be near the top of the league in the Bundesliga in goals if he played for a better club. He is too isolated up top there.

Jozy is invaluable to this side. I do not care what anyone says. He is a bull in this region. No one can mark him man to man in this region.

Can I add that BRooks found Altidore and basically "forget this midfield man, you guys are kililng me"

Honestly, the start of the game was, nice interplay between Fab altidore Pulisic, wood, etc and decent defense...

Jones and Bradley were getting run the f out during the 4 4 2 as well, sooo to put this one on Klinsmann, I don't get. Well, the only way you could put it is the personnel, not the tactics. Pulisic in the middle of the park, yes he's not used int hat fashion during the season, but guess what? He's our best player. He literally broke through every tackle and made some incredible tough dodges to keep possession. More than you could EVER say for our midfield. moving to 4 4 2 gets pulisic AWAY from that. Diamond formation can help with that. But the nature of the formation was not what was at fault here, it's BRadley not being able to

pass
tackle
take position

We've seen this time and time again, THIS is what Klinsmann has to work on.

Is it a cop-out on my part if I say that I was excited to see the 3-5-2, but that knowing whether it's ready or not against Mexico ain't my responsibility?

I gave JK the benefit of the doubt for once that his crazy gambles can't be wrong as often as I think they are. But if you asked me as armchair coach if I think the surprise value is worth the "no games in this formation" disvalue, I'd say "not against Mexico, and not in a WCQ".

I still don't think it should be over for the 3-5-2 though.

(I mean, yeah, I agree on the MB sucks and JJ is old sentiments too)

Takeaways

We really miss Cameron,

Wood, Pulisic played great

Jozy actually played well.

Chandler better but not great

Bradley wow based on his last 24 months he needs to be benched-the issue is who do we bring in?

Jones, I like him on the field but father time is catching him soon, before russia I think

Fabian-loads of skill but goes missing during parts of the game

We need to get a result against CR THEN start tinker with different midfields-williams needs a run, stank0, kitchen etc

and would like to know the whole story re Nagbe-

Does anyone know why the US soccer media won't criticize Bradley? Is it not allowed since he is an MLS player?

The 3-5-2 is a good formation. My only sentiment: Why now? Why when the 4-1-3-2 worked so well?
