Obviously, first and foremost, his health and family come first. Keep Deuce and his family in your prayers everyone.

This is what ended Eddie Johnsons career. My guess Deuce will probably be done with his soccer career. Thoughts are with him and his family.
Now it's time for the future to be the present. Wood and Morris need to now realize they are the present.

2tone, I thought that too, however, it was supposedly and enlarged heart which ended EJ career.

Dempsey is a fighter, but there are some things that determination cannot overcome. Regardless of how this ends I wish Duce the best going forward.
As for the USMNT this isn't as big an issue as it would have been a year or two ago. We now have a nice stable of forwards who could be selected (Jozy, Wood, Johannsson, Morris, Rubin, etc...). I was actually beginning to be concerned of how JK would be able to transition away from Dempsey and how Dempsey would react to becoming more of a role player than a star with the team.

Wish nothing but the best for him. This shouldn't be the way for him to go out. I know he will come back strong and healthy next year.
Either way, I hope he and his wife take his long term health into consideration. His kids need him around as they grow up. In the end, this is just a game. Good Luck Duece, you and your family are in my prayers.

Brain/heart injuries are the only ones I would never fault an athlete from hanging up the cleats for. With modern medical breakthroughs almost every other part of the body can be replaced/repaired. You need your heart and your head. Hopefully he sits down and only comes back if he's truly 100%

I want him to be able to talk to announcers regarding the US MNT in future games.
More importantly to his kids for as long as he can. I'm sure he's level headed, but he's got nothing to prove to the USMNT at least as far as I 'm concerned. He's given everything. Take as much time as you need, Clint.
