if by beyond you mean San Jose, Costa Rica, then I agree for Wondo. Without Dempsey, Zardes and Johansson, the reliable in CONCACAF Wondo will get you a goal. Green on the other hand, should figure as we move into the future. Wondo's miss earned people's hate but what has Julian Green ever done to deserve hate?

Wondo doesn't score against concacaf foes. He scores against carribean island nations and crap bag Central American countries. 8 of his 11 goals were against Cuba, Belize, Guatemala. Then he scored 2 in a camp cupcake against South Korea b team and one in Arizona on a non FIFA date against Mexico c+ team. Play anyone better than Guatemala and he's useless. We've always known this. Why do people think this will change?

How does half of ussoccer still have a job?

The field selection over the last few years has been embarrassing at best.

I think it's good to schedule a game like this once a year. When we go to Honduras and Costa Rica, Panama and Trinidad how do you think those pitches will be? Half our qualifying is played on a field like this. Need some games to get used to it so you can adjust your playing style as needed.

Like I said, what has Julian green done to deserve any hate? Choose USA, score in the WC? Either him or Wondo is gonna have to be there against Mexico and Costa Rica @maamtoine because as I just pointed out, three of the guys ahead of Green and Wondo are either injured, not playing, or not in rhythm.

Loads of changes for the New Zealand game.

John Brooks, Geoff Cameron, Timmy Chandler, Ethan Horvath, Fabian Johnson, Jordan Morris, Christian Pulisic, Chris Wondolowski and Bobby Wood have been released.

Kellyn Acosta, Juan Agudelo, Matt Besler, Terrence Boyd, Bill Hamid, Michael Orozco and Tim Parker have been added.

I don't understand releasing Timmy Chandler. This seems like a good chance to see if he can still contribute. We also have zero outside backs so I assume we'll see Acosta at LB and Orozco at RB.

U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION:

GOALKEEPERS (3): David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), William Yarbrough (Club Leon)

DEFENDERS (6): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Matt Besler (Sporting KC), Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Parker (Vancouver Whitecaps FC)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Paul Arriola (Club Tijuana), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Lynden Gooch (Sunderland), Perry Kitchen (Hearts), Sacha Kljestan (New York Red Bulls), Danny Williams (Reading)

FORWARDS (4): Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution), Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Terrence Boyd (RB Leipzig), Julian Green (Bayern Munich)

Was Yedlin released back to Newcastle? Or was he not mentioned?

Many more experimental type options available for this match.
Outside of Yedlin we're going to see a new defensive line-up. Only defender I wish wasn't there is Orozco as I don't believe he's a worthwhile option. I would have preferred Villafana get called in.
In midfield we're a little thin at wing options, but at we should get a chance to see how Gooch does.
I'm glad that Wondo was released and younger options were called in. Besides ArJo these are the players who should be getting time over Wondo since they might actually be able to contribute beyond the immediate matches. I would have liked to have seen Morris kept, but understand releasing him since the Sounders are thin at the position.

I feel the same, pretty good roster, but would have liked someone other than Orozco. May have even sent bradley home, let kitchen or williams get a full run.

Green a guy who hasn't seen the field all season gets the start over say a guy like Gooch or arriola who at least are getting playing time in good leagues. Shows how jk contradicts himself often after he says players should be playing constantly at Club level and performing well. Does anyone see the dilemma there ?? Yea he scored a tap in but should he warrant a call or even more a start next game?

You must be new to this but every statement a manager makes to the press is TACTICAL. They have to lie all of the time. Do you think Klinsmann is going to tell the players that they don't have to get PT if they want to play for the national team? Do you think that'd be an accurate statement? There's no rule that managers have to explain to the public exactly why the pick the players that they do, and they never do other than a few comments here and there. They don't need to lay out some formula that they follow because there is information involved in these choices that is not public. Most of what goes on behind the scenes is private, and there's no way they're going to comment about it. And anyway, it's not like they have some mathematical formula they use to pick players. A lot of it is made based on instinct and intuition and considering these guys are professionals who have been involved with the game in the closest way possible for decades, I think they might know a thing or two more than you about the sport and how to evaluate players. Considering the fact that he called Morris and Ibarra up to the NT before they went pro (and they proved to be of that caliber) shows that he knows better than even the MLS scouts. So I think he knows more than some high school kid on the internet.

I want to see T-Boyd up top with Gooch in the hole. Green and Arriola as flank mids. Sacha and MB in the middle. Besler and Omar at CB...Acosta LB and Birnbuam at RB.

Really curious to see how Boyd looks.
