I don't think pulisic was involved in any camp before being called up. I can also see him Starting in next year's WC or at the least making the 23 man roster. Haji Wright is another player to watch also.

I'm hardly discounting him.

I'm gonna say pump your brakes on this. He needs to be invited to a camp at the very minimum before we start speculating about his USMNT future.

Nah. I'm done pumping brakes.

I hope he does play a few games for Schalke, so I can see his overall game. I haven't seen anything other than the you tube clip of the assist. He definitely looks sturdy as opposed to Zelalem...who blew everybody's mind with his insane vision and passing, but still doesn't have a great handle on the physical nature of the game.

I'm optimistic, but need to see what his top qualities are with my own eyes. I take it he's considered an 8? Does he have a quality shot? Does he have high end international quickness and pace or just passable. Is he tough enough to play Dmid if he had to....Can he control the middle and make others around him better....can't wait to see what he's got...what clearly separates him from Adams, Lletget or Acosta.

@chris_thebassplayer if Mckennie has any of the qualities you just mentioned, he's better than bradley right now, because Bradley sure doesn't.

Talk to Bruce Bjelks...I'm sure he can give you the rundown on why he's the centermid captain of the freaking US national team.

Can he demonstrate it in 5 league games first? Is that too much to ask?

If you're trying to be reasonable, I'd say demonstrating it in 20 games is when it's time to start comparing.

Did you learn anything from how sideways Julian Green's career has been?
Zelalem? How many more examples would you like?

Mmee is right. There are countless teenagers that come through the ranks, play a handful of exhibition matches, and never amount to anything. Heck, there are lots of teens that come through the ranks, play a few league games, and never amount to anything. Green and Zelalem included. I'm stoked about McKennie, and I'm actually inclined to agree-a run of Bundesliga games and he deserves a callup-but let's hold our horses a bit before we start asking for him to replace Michael Bradley. And I'd love to see MB90 get replaced.

I'm really sad that Torres isn't getting PT this year. It seems like every time he could get a shot at breaking back into the NT, he gets an injury or gets benched (but let's not forget Tigres has been one of the best CONCACAF teams of this era, and thus of all time the past, few years). Klinsmann was a big fan of his but then never gave him a chance at his position and then decided he didn't like him. And before that, Coach Bob never gave him a fair shake until he threw him in the fire as MB90's covering #6 at the 2010 World Cup, a poor fit. He was playing well last year and I thought he could get a shot under Arena. But this would have been his moment and he hasn't really gotten any PT this year. He is 29 and will most likely be too old next cycle. IMO the first player in our history that could have been an integral part of the team but got overlooked. A damn shame, but it shows how far we have come as a soccer nation. As our player pool continues to get deeper, this will start to happen more and more.

McKennie will be involved with Schalkes first team,m this year. I won't be surprised if he is starting in the WC next summer.

WOAH hot take? I dont see it. Not the way Bruce line up and is pragmatic. But then again Bruce started DMB and LD in 2002 opener so who knows. Very unlikely though

This goes with the age old argument in evaluating a player and needing empirical evidence to substantiate the claim.

You can say that McKennie is already better than some of our CM's, hell I would argue Hyndman and Zelalem were/ are too. But generally, unless you're Jordan Morris, you require some first team action in your respective league against representative competition to thoroughly validate that hypothesis.

But if Pulisic was beating people, taking people on those first 10 30 games he played for Borussia Dortmund. You either have to make the claim that he got better, or got "ready to p lay right now status" the minute he touched the field, or that the game experience made Pulisic.

I don't buy that theory.
