How hard is it to be our best CM?
He's 19 competing for a role on a top half bundesliga team.

I mean, you can be right later, after he plays x number of Bundesliga games....?

But don't act like none of our guys can play an interesting through ball. It's about consistency and overall game impact.

I don't care about the through ball. It's the combination of athleticism, technique, and tactical awareness that intrigues me.

Can he demonstrate it in 5 league games first? Is that too much to ask?

If you're trying to be reasonable, I'd say demonstrating it in 20 games is when it's time to start comparing.

Did you learn anything from how sideways Julian Green's career has been?
Zelalem? How many more examples would you like?

Breaking though at Schalke and breaking through at Arsenal are 2 very different things.

sigh
That's hardly my point.

Calling a young player with a ton of potential and pedigree "teh best evur" is immature fan behavior.

Give it a minute.

Lol, there are no CMs that U.S. has played this yr that have played 20 games for a top half Premier or Bundesliga team, but Mckennie has to to compete for a spot on the team.
Give me a break lol.

This. 13 whole minutes. Schalke's a mid-table Bundesliga club (top of the bottom half last year, 10th), it's good that McKennie and Wright have a chance to establish themselves, but things change very fast with young players in soccer, especially if they get injured at a critical moment in their development. People mentioned Zelalem, I loved Rubio Rubin's game and he's now 21 and out of contract, Pelosi, Gyau, etc. Guys who didn't get hurt like Green, jury is still out. It's nice to be excited, but let's see McKennie do more than cameos and friendly assists.

McKennie will be involved with Schalkes first team,m this year. I won't be surprised if he is starting in the WC next summer.

While McKinnie needs to play, discounting him simply because he doesn't have seasons of experience is a joke. While guys like Gyau, Pelosi etc haven't panned out, the alternative is to roll out 'veterans' that have....guys like Bedoya, Zusi, Besler etc. At some point, the reliance on MLS veterans needs to stop. Waiting for the perfect time for a youngster to make the leap to the US is a poor way to do it. A little bit of sink or swim is good..and playing on a mid table BL or premiership side is far more beneficial than playing on the Sounders from a development standpoint.

If Morris had this 'sophomore slump' on Werder Bremen he'd be benched. Instead, he's auto starter despite his complete lack of production. That certainly does nothing from his mental sharpness standpoint, and from an internal drive to work on his game.

I'm gonna say pump your brakes on this. He needs to be invited to a camp at the very minimum before we start speculating about his USMNT future.

The young soccer careers of Rubio Rubin and Brady Scott are headed in completely opposite directions.
