So it went from they are more technical than the US men to they play prettier. I'll agree to that, they play prettier because they are the best team in the women's game, the US men aren't the best team in the men's game.

That doesn't matter that they are the best. You can play attractive football and not be the best. We still play unattractive football and have very few technically gifted players who are willing to play technically. We still play a modified version of route 1 football basically.

Sure, you can play attractive football and not be the best, but that is really really really hard in the mens game, especially against the likes of Argentina, Chile, Spain, or the German Machine. However, that still doesn't change the fact that in no way are the US women more technically gifted or sound than the US men. That's like saying the best WNBA team is more techincally gifted than a middling NBA team. Not buyin it!

anyone that trys to compare the womens team to the mens team shouldnt be talking about soccer. The womens game has been around for only a few decades while the mens have beenaround for almost a couple centuries. Also only a select few countries have played the womens game and the USA being the hub of equality is going to let women play first more than other countries did, therefore more women in the usa got the oppurtunity to play soccer at a young age so therefore we were better when the game started. If u have watched the last 4 years of womens soccer other teams are catching up, which is a good thing. The fact the usa can lose in the quarters while is dissapoiting from a fans perspective, its better for womens soccer, it will increase competition, but obviously the us womens team looked "pretty" If the men were out there playing that sweedish womens team i think we would have a lot more adjectives than "pretty" it would be a final score of 50-0... not exagerating

Did I ever say the womens team could beat the mens? Never! Don't put words in my mouth. I am talking about the style of play from our womens national team and the mens. The females look more technically gifted and play a more attractive game than us. If you disagree, let Hope Solo share her thoughts... http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/article/1728...

I know it's apples and oranges but I was just mentioning how impressed I was with the ability of some of the attacking players on the womens team and wondered why our men's team doesn't play like that. I agree we cannot match talent with the likes of Germany, Chile, or Argentina but too many times our players on the men's team are too afraid to try something creative or take on a player one on one. That said, that was always my biggest critique of Landon Donovan, I thought if he was a better dribbler and better at beating his defender other than just using flat out speed, he would have been a better player than he was.

We are missing that element on our men's team from our attacking players. We have some up and coming players with flair but until we have 5-6 in the attack that can create their own chance, we are going to have to rely on set pieces and crosses to score the majority of our goals. I would say Clint Dempsey is the best player we have had in terms of creativity. John O'Brien or Reyna the most technical.
