Decided to start a thread for the Olympics. Womens and men's soccer starts today and tomorrow. This isn't a thread for just Olympic soccer. Whatever you wanna say about Rio throw it in here.

USWNT plays at 6 pm ET. The time difference is a big help. Most events will be live.

I tried to watch the Brazil v Iraq match but I couldn't as the over the top gamesmanship and antics of the Iraqi team left a bad taste in my mouth. On the one hand I do applaud them for putting Brazil off their game, but watching as a neutral it was just ugly to watch the blatant diving, leaving the boot in after the play had moved on, and the faking.

Anybody else notice how US basketball has already moved on from the sharp angled lettering of 2012 and switched to a simple font for 2016?

Meanwhile US soccer just changed their crest to the already out-of-date sharp angled lettering.

USA Bball used that font for one Olympics, so it can hardly be called out of date in my opinion. No to mention that the font on the jersey changes every tournament. So in 2020 will the simple font be out-of-date, and so on, and so forth?

I don't have any issue with what US basketball is doing, they're playing into the fashion of the time and as you said changing it up every four years. My frustration is that US soccer changed their crest to incorporate the fashion of time which is no longer the latest trend. Sure the new crest might not look dated until the next cycle but I want our crest to survive the test of time and US soccer failed massively in delivering a timeless crest with this roll out.

80th minute and Mexico needs 2 goals to advance to the knockout stage. FINGERS CROSSED. Would love to see them knocked out immediately.

I feel like the women's team plays more technically sound and are more gifted on the ball than our men's team.

Yep, so gifted and technical are they, that they got beat by the US u-17 boys national team 6-2 in a scrimmage about 5 years ago.

Regardless it doesn't matter. They still play more attractive football than our men's side and that's a fact.

That doesn't change anything. US women have pretty much always been the most dominant.

So it went from they are more technical than the US men to they play prettier. I'll agree to that, they play prettier because they are the best team in the women's game, the US men aren't the best team in the men's game so it doesn't look as pretty when you play Leo Messi, Ronaldo, or the German Machine. But I will not agree that the US women are more technically sound and gifted on the ball than the US men!
