I still think most of our players are more comfortable in a 4-4-2 system.

Probable 23:

GK: Hamid, Guzan, Howard

D: Yedlin, Chandler, Gonzo, Cameron, Brooks, Ream, Fabian

M: Jones, Williams, Bradley, Nagbe, Bedoya, Pulisic, Zusi

A: Deuce, Wood, Green, Morris, Altidore, Zardes( if he is over his knock)

Possibles: Besler, Castillo, Birnbaum, B-man, Lichaj, Rubin( likely replacement for Zardes if not healthy), Boyd, Zelalem, Picault.

Bradley is out for the first game.

ArJo just recently started first team training it will be too soon for him.

I agree team looks better in 442 and that is why I would expect Zardes up top in a 433 where he can provide a lot of fexibility. I know people hate that first touch, it is weak, but he makes it harder for the opposing team to prepare because he cN change the formation constantly.

I think Birnbaum gets called in over Gonzo. I have a feeling Gonzo expects to start and he is not there at this level. Where Birnbaum is younger same size on set plays and will not be a distraction on the bench.

Roldan should get a shot? Is that a joke bro? These are the qualifiers for the World Cup,, and we must win both games, especially the first one. Where people come up with stuff is anyone's guess. I thought we were working Nagbe into the team?

I wouldn't look for players like Roldan, Delgado, Menneh, etc.... until the January Camp where they'll have an extended camp and JK won't have the ability to call in European & Mexican club players.
The one minor concern regarding Roldon is that Guatemala could call/cap him during the Sept. Qualifiers.

Highly doubt Roldan will ever be a starter/main reserve for US team. So many other options coming through now. He should play for Guatemala. They seem to be on the upswing where they may make this hex or at least next hex. Good for US soccer in general if they develop him and he succeeds for another nation (see Najar)

I don't know the specifics of rules, but since Roldan has represented the US at competitive youth levels he'll need to file a 1 time switch before he can rep Guatemala or El Salvador. Not sure if he has to do that before he can attend a camp, but it means that he is unlikely to represent anyone but the US until 2017.
As for his competition within the US pool....yes he's going to be facing a tough uphill battle to make the team (Nagbe, Hyndman, Zelalem, Pulisic, etc....), but it's not outside of the realm of possibilities. The current USMNTers he's going against are some of the aging players like Jones, Zusi, & Bedoya. Since he's regularly seeing 90 minutes with his club he does have a slight advantage over some of the younger players in Europe.

Fair enough. It is getting to that point though where the health and readiness of players gets questioned. We are surprisingly healthy. Most players are getting the full 90 minutes, although Cameron didn't. The German season doesn't start for a bit but the Bundesliga players should be fresh after what seems to be 2 games then the international break.
One thing though: with Bradley out, in this crucial of a game who plays in the midfield?? Besides Bedoya that is.

With Jones still recovering from a knee injury and Bradley suspended for the game against St. Vincent, Add in how some of our players Europe have started their seasons and there are going to be some fairly significant changes to the starting XI and maybe the overall roster as well.
For instance I can see the possibility of Gooch being called in while Pulisic may be left home since he appears to be back with BVB reserves after not seeing the field in a DFB-Pokal match after not even dressing for their previous 1st team match.
Jones is likely out of the picture unless he can find his way into the Rapids game this coming weekend. I can't see bringing him if he's not 100% considering Bradley is suspended. It'd be difficult to use 2 roster spots for players unable to play in the first match.
Hopefully the rest of our core players (Cameron, Brooks, Fabian, Yedlin) who seem to be on the outside of their teams or just returning to action are able to carry the team through these 2 matches.

People do know that Jozy will be on the roster. He's actually scoring goals now and is helping push Toronto for the top seed in the East.

I'm not sure if Boyd or Johannsson will be on the roster.

I assume it'll be: Jozy , Wood, Dempsey. I don't think Jurgen will need both Morris and Dempsey but he loves those two so who knows.

Hard to say. Jones might be back healthy, and Klinsmann isn't afraid to call up players who are just returning from injury.

And yes Jozy will be called up. He has scored 4 goals in 5 games since returning from injury.

GK: Hamid, Howard, Guzan

D: Yedlin, Chandler, Cameron, Gonzo, Brooks, Fabian, Ream

M: Bradley, Kitchen, Williams, Bedoya, Nagbe, Zusi, Jones

A: Green, Jozy, Deuce, Wood, Morris, Pulisic

Gooch is a possibility if Jones can't go.

Wouldn't also mind seeing Pontius rewarded for his really good season so far for the Union.

Another player in contention is Jose Torres who has been playing for Tigres again.
