With Sasha K in the mix, I feel even more confident in my lineup, even with Besler coming in for Brooks... Jozy and Bob up top, Bedoya in the 10 role, Nagbe and Zusi either side of the diamond, Beckerman holding, Fabian, Besler, Cam, Yedlin across the back with Guzan in goal. Sasha can provide plenty of cover in the midfield off the bench as Bedoya can play anywhere. I think Bedoya himself will be captain in this match, possibly Altidore. The main thing in this game will be keeping our composure and avoiding stupid turnovers. Just hoof it out if there's trouble as they don't have enough to break us down. Time will be our friend in this game and after enough chances the ball will go in. Jozy and Bob have good size up front in the event of bunkering, we do have targets to cross to.

I believe it was announced that Jozy will captain?

Zardes is out for awhile with broken foot. Gives young guns a chance to step it up in practice for these qualifiers and the October friendlies.

That sucks. Zardes may not have the best of first touches but he gave the USMNT great flexibility to change formations throughout the game. His determination and work rate will be missed in November especially with the HEX starting.

Nagbe off the bench in this one. Book it.

Damn it, I'm sounding more bitter by the day.

It is definitely going to be interesting to see how the Kaiser rolls out the squad for the first match.

The more I think about it the more likely this lineup looks.

Wood-Altidore-Zusi
Bedoya
Nagbe Beckerman
Johnson Besler Cameron Yedlin
Guzan

I think with the us controlling possesion our fullbacks push very high up with Wood cutting inside from the left to be more central. Zusi cuts inside or provides crosses to Wood and Altidore. Nagbe is used to control possession and to quickly move the ball up the pitch. Johnson and Yedlin stay up for most of the game to run at fullbacks or cross the ball from the wing. Beckerman stays back or is used to disrupt any limited possesion SVG has. Then at centerbacks go with Besler/Cameron a natural fit. Guzan the goalkeeper obviously.
I doubt klijestan gets started as Klinsmann rarely starts players he calls up as replacements. I also think younger players such as morris or pulisic are unlikely to start in a qualifier like this.

That sounds more like a 4-4-2 to me, why not just line up in one? We don't have two wings for the 4-3-3, I'm not even sure we have one wing if Pulisic isn't playing, just put Zusi on the outside of a 4-4-2 where he belongs. Then he and Wood can play their more natural positions.

Did everybody see the game is at 3:30 pm EST? I was checking the weather forecast, around 84 F with 70% humidity! Plus it is calling for showers about that time. The subs are going to be important. Does Jozy go full 90...doubt it, so who comes in for him to work off Wood? Do you sub Zusi at 60 and let Pulisic have a go? The name of the game has to be get on the board first, then put in another one, and then another one.

If we qualify against St Vinny and have nothing to play for against T&T then I'd love to see this lineup against T&T.

-Pulisic-Wood-Arriola-
----FJ---Nagbe---
-----Bradley------
-Acosta-Besler-Cameron-Yedlin-
-----I don't care------

I'm not really sold on Acosta at LB but it would allow Fabian to play in the Midfield and given the lack of full backs on this roster there aren't many alternative options.

I think we'll see the most experienced players starting the St Vincent game...then a few young guys if we're managing the game well....this could be the most anti-Blaise line up ever.

......Jozy....Wondo.....

Bedoya.....Nagbe....Zusi

.............Beckerman......

Fab......Besler...Cam...Yeddy

I could also see Besler at LB with Fab at LM..,push Bedoya into the middle .,,Cam and B-Baum as CBs

Puli subs for Zusi and Wood for Wondo...

JK loves his old dudes for away qualies.

If we clinch qualification after the St V's game I would bet that Fab & Cam head back across the pond. Fab, like Brooks, seems to find excuses to not play fairly easy when it comes to these minnow games.

Id prefer our Europe based players to go back after the first game- we've seen before the foreign coaches bench our players because of the length of the flight etc. - so if we qualify I have no problems with players going back to their clubs after the first game.

I thought I had heard we would host the first HEX game in November against Mexico as long we won first in our group. Anybody else hear that?
