Huge decision for jurgen. I think I know what he'll do but I hope he doesn't.

Lineup I expect jk to use

Switch to 4-4-2
Dempsey-zardes
Fab-Bradley-beckerman-zusi
Besler-brooks-cam-yedlin
Guzan

I hope we'd stick with a 4-3-3
Pulisic-Dempsey-zardes
Nagbe-bradley-Zusi
Fab-brooks-cam-yedlin
Guzan

Wish we'd stick with the 4-3-3 to start at least. Beckerman can't compete against Argentina. At least we could possibly counter and posses with nagbe in there.

I was thinking about this today. This is the starting line up I am expecting.

Stay with the 4-3-3. Only reason we went away from the 4-4-2 is to give more cover to our outside backs against Ecuador with Yedlin out and so much of Ecuadors attack coming from out wide.

Zusi in for Wood
Nagbe in for Jones
Bradley to Bedoya's spot
Beckerman in at DM
back 4 stays the same as the group stages.

What I am HOPING for:
Pulisic - Dempsey - Zardes
Nagbe - Zusi
Bradley
FabJo - Brooks- Cameron - Yedlin

Can we talk about something other than lineups for a change? How about the game? I didn't read a single post about it.

I expect the 4-4-2 as well, except with Zardes on the right MF and Pulisic up top with Dempsey. Zusi does better coming off the bench. At this time Dempsey needs to be out there and he and Wondo would get in each others way. So Pulisic has to start IMO.

What I would try is a 3-4-1-2

Guzan
Birnbaum, Cameron, Brooks
Yedlin, Beckerman, Bradley, FJ
Nagbe
Dempsey, Pulisic

Yes, it is something new...no time to be experimenting at this juncture of a tournament, but this gives us possibly the best platform for the counter. JK has told his players to go for it, so he should too.

This must be Nagbes game...

What I'd like to see:

-- Zardes - Dempsey --
Fab --- Nagbe --- Zusi
----- Bradley -----
Besler - Brooks - Cam - Yedlin
------ Guzan -------

Besler proved he can play LB defensively, let Yedlin come back in at RB and push Fabian up into the midfield. As much as I love Wondo and Pulisic, starting Zardes up too and Fabian at LW is better. It's a creative midfield, but still enough work ethic. Best XI that I can come up with at this moment.

^^^^This but keep the 4-3-3 adding the extra man in the middle to neutralize messi and di Maria cutting inside.

Funny I just posted the same lineup on the other thread. I agree I would love to see

- Zardes - Dempsey -
Fab - Nagbe - Zusi
-- Bradley --
Besler - Brooks - Cam - Yedlin
-- Guzan

If we need offense bring on pulisic and put Fabian back to lb.

We could also bring in kitchen if we need defense

We are so well suited for a 3-5-2 generally, and with these suspensions even moreso, but I really doubt JK actually goes to it. But:

Zardes - Dempsey
Fab - Nagbe - MB - Zusi (or Kyle) - Yedlin
Besler - Brooks - Cameron

Would be a pretty solid formation. You have more defensive cover on the wings to shut down Messi/Kun, and you get pretty close to our best 11 on the field.

The good thing is when Besler plays in the back we pretty much end up in a 3 man backline anyway because he does not go up at all. We might as well make roles clear though by actually lining up in one.
