As the only Orozco fan on the board - @rey: Yedlin is never a better defender than Orozco. A better overall player sure, but not a better defender than Orozco. The more I think about the game, the more I'd like to see Fabian Johnson pushed into the attack.

Fabian - Dempsey - Zardes
-- Jones - Bedoya --
--- Bradley ---
Besler - Brooks - Cameron - Orozco

damn... your statement made sense

but my trying to picture this in my head, who would I rather watch try to handle montero or valencia, orozco or yedlin

for some reason i choose yedlin

Did anybody catch the interview with Jermaine at half time of the Chile game? They asked him how he was feeling and if the day of rest yesterday helped. He made a throw away comment about how some of the guys were starting to get sick. He didn't elaborate but that can't be good.

But then again we can't have Yedlin play in this game against either winger. So it's a moot point regardless. I'm just pointing out the need for stay at home defenders guarding against their pushed up wingers. Besler and Orozco are much less likely to leave space than Johnson or Castillo (or Yedlin). That Brooks play was a giveaway by Cameron, bad tackle by Johnson and good recovery by Brooks. Orozco won't be in that forward of a position to not be able to help out.

right, I wasn't raising tht point for the sake of actual path for the game. just weighing in my mind, if Yedlin were available, who'd i'd rather have taken them on. from the defensive. feel like i don't feel more confident with Orozco, just based on the fact that if either makes a mistake yedlin can erase it with speed, Orozco has to be perfectly clean, a player on the bench this whole year, opposed to some one who faced both in league play.

but that's just my feeling, i have no technical justification for it.

The thing is, it will be a tight game. The likes of Jones, Bedoya, Zusi and Zardes with their two way play are going to be very important. The lineup decision of seemingly Castillo v Orozco is a smaller point to me than the real story: the attitude of the players on the field. The huge crowd of Seattle should really help that mentality. We've all seen too many times in these knockout games that USA plays tight and risk free until a goal is scored by the other team, after that the USA players actually go for it. I can see players like beckerman deployed in this game for tactical reasons, but the XI that take the field need to have fun and run with it. Timidity will get exposed.

MMMM Two way, do you think Nagbe is less two way than Bedoya?

Probably yes. But that can be easily rectified by seeing more games with Nagbe playing. After this tournament I think we'll see him be a two way player

So you're referring to his functionality, and what's being asked of him. I believe, yes?

But I'm saying as a player for Portland, especially the one that comes to mind that incites Twellman's "Nagbe is constantly defending too much" ... T T... dude, he's a midfielder, it's what you're supposed to do.

I feel like Portland Nagbe, the one who doesn't get nagged to be a CAM or goal scorer, is like our ultra poverty stricken man's Xavi.

Thank you Speed elf. I will try and go even though it's like 7-8 hours away and doubt i find a ticket. I think we will win. Hopefully we do.

I'm seeing these convos and I feel we learned nothing from the Colombia game. Is montero and Valencia an issue. Yes. But let our attack minded players be aware. That's it. I say go for it. Trust your defenders to put out fires that are going to come and let's attack. I am all for keeping a similar line up but I do want to see more possession. The moment nagbe and pulisic came on the field when we last played things changed. They didn't expect us to hold the ball and attack. So this is what I would throw out.

Wood Dempsey
Nagbe bedoya
Jones Bradley
Fjo brooks cam orozco
Guzan

Zusi pulisic Zardes off the bench

Can still play as a 433 but the morph into the 442 (or 4132) is where we seemed to catch teams off.

The ratings are going to be horrible tomorrow night as the Nats are going head-to-head with Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

You are welcome. I just checked and there are some seats in the nosebleeds at $150 a tix. The ones I looked at in the corners just below that tier are still $120. No way I can do that with a family of six. I am very disappointed with the way all of these games were priced. Money grab by the sleazy marketing group and the two federations.

skangles - my coworker and I were just talking about that issue. I convinced him USA game is more important! So we will be watching the game at work. LOL

The sleazy marketing group is Don Garber's S.U.M United and another company!
