Without Yedlin available some difficult decisions will need to be made regarding the back line. Depending on what JK and his staff does will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the team. I can see 4 possibilities for how Yedlin's absence can be addressed-..
1) RB is filled by either Orozco or Birnbaum with the other 3 remaining the same.
2) Fabian moves to RB and either Castillo or Besler slots in at LB
3) Cameron slides into the RB spot and Birnbaum fills in as RCB
4) Bedoya drops back into the RB spot Jones moves to the right side and Nagbe or Zusi slot into the Left Midfield spot.

Based on the speed & quality of the attack from Ecuador I'd go with option #4. Bedoya's work rate and speed would allow him to fill in for Yedlin while Nagbe (my preference) would provide a bit more possession to the midfield.

We're all forgetting the one that is possible and we really don't want to see, Jermaine Jones at CB and Cameron on the right. Very unlikely (I hope), but it's not like we haven't seen it before

Well winning the group may have not been fortuitous after all.

I think the US will line up more in a 4-3-2-1. Ecuador will try to over load the middle of the field. Wood has shown he can be a lone striker. Get Zardes and Nagbe on the wings. This game is not for Bedoya.

Meh Brazil is a Joke now. If they were even decent they would have won this group hands down. Hope this hurts Brazil for not taking the tournament seriously and taking some Olympics more seriously.
Saying that NJ is known to be full of Peruvian. That Colombia Peru match will be entertaining. Still liked the game in Seattle and I live in NY saying that. Just looks better to have a Pro US crowd.

although I would like to see pulisic and nagbe here is what I think JK will do

Wood

zardes--Dempsey-bedoya

Jones -Bradley

Besler-Brooks-Cameron--Johnson

Or he will put orazco in--he will try and keep the same lineup I feel.

But at some point we need to attack, we will need Nagbe and Pulisic

I think we match well with Ecuador. If we can get some good counter attacks going then there will be space. This team isnt exactly known for there defense. Plus 1 day less of rest Plus just played in NJ and will have to travel to Seattle.... Cross Country trip.

You know we gotta give ourselves credit... we havent conceeded goals from the run of play since Puerto Rico and that was a throw away match. So since guatemala 4-0 win. Thats 6 games without conceeding from run of play.

Don't see why JK would change from the 4-3-3 now. Played 5 good games and beat Ecuador in the Friendly before the tournament in it.

The only real question will be who starts in place of Yedlin.

No way he messes with the Brooks and Cameron pairing. They have been outstanding. FabJo has defended well on the right, hard to mess with that. Bradley has been good in defense, Zardes has been a work horse (needed) on the right, and Bedoya has played well. Jones disappears for stretches but makes big plays when we need them.

Really I think the worst player so far has been Wood when on the left. Been good in the center.

I would change a thing. I'm no fan of Orozco, but I'm a bigger fan of his than Castillo. I don't want to mess with that CB pairing (Best choice in a vacuum for RB is Cameron).

Castillo and Orozco are equal. not good. But FabJo at LB is better than FabJo at RB, thus Orozco is the better option there. And Besler or Birnbaum can't be legit options in the Quarterfinals at either outside back position.

Bedoya, Brooks, Johnson, Bradley, Orozco, Jones, and Wood. Looking back I don't see Cameron with a yellow. Could have sworn he received one against Colombia.

Anyways any of those guys above get a yellow and they are out for the Semi's if we win. Dangerous territory. And no at this stage you don't sit anyone for fear. Gotta go with your best. As long as it's not Brooks we can survive.

I'm afraid if Fabjo is on the right, he will get destroyed by Jeff Montero. He is not a good defender.

He went against Cuadrado, who is worlds better.

Gunner has a good point. The team formation should stay intact as much as possible.fjo on the left and orozco on the right. Orozco will stay home more giving Cameron the ability to step out a couple of times pushing Bradley or jones higher- good thing. Orozco can focus on making monstero his gf.

Also despite not being a fan of Orozco, I think he played well when coming on against Paraguay. It was a tough situation to come on in. He had a GOOD foul that grabbed him a yellow. I'm ok with that. It was a smart play.

But coming on being down a man and the other team needing a goal. He did well.
