I don't care if its not official yet.

I make a case for Pulisic and Nagbe because Nagbe and Pulisic have ALREADY played against Ecuador, where Nagbe scored against them, so nerves won't be as big an issue. And we simply HAVE TO WIN. So why not use our potent offensive weapons? This is a good opportunity to give some rest for Jones, Bedoya, and Zardes (and Yedlin...), because the semifinal against Argentina will be a life and death energy sucking struggle of going to PKs.

---Wood- Dempsey
Pulisic--Nagbe--Zusi
----- Bradley-----
Fabian-Brooks-Cameron-Orozco.

I would say put in Castillo and make Fabian a RB, but I won't get picky.

the lineup will be the same with orozco at rb... klinssman is finally having consistency. We will see pulisic and nagbe if we need a goal. It is clear thats how they will be used in this tournament. We could also see them in the semis if we win but lose players to yellow card accumulation. + imagine if brazil was to lose to peru... i would have been fine coming in 2nd if it meant traveling 100 miles and only playing peru... hahaha

I agree we should have Castillo at LB and Fabian at RB if Fabian is going to play wingback. There are many lineup combinations we could see, but I sort of expect no changes other than the big question: who comes in for Yedlin? I could see Orozco playing again (this right here is the exact reason why he was chosen over Gonzalez and Miazga for those who were wondering), as he provides a good starting point defensively. He can always be taken out for a permutation of the XI, such as @navi just described above, if USA are losing.

if we are losing we can go to three in the back... thats one of our moves if orozco starts, because orozco could play cb in the 3 back line. if we are losing in the final 15 mins u will probs see

pulisic wood zardes
dempsey
nagbe bradley jones
cameron brooks orozco

How do we know its Ecuador? Title should have been Copa QF but whatever. I want throw out that we did see Besler at LB to so there is that too.

Besler-Brooks-Cameron-Johnson
Castillo-Brooks-Cameron-Johnson
Johnson-Brooks-Cameron-Orozco
Johnson-Brooks-Cameron-Birmbaum
Johnson-Brooks-Birmbaum-Cameron
- least likely to make sense, we dont want to change a working CB pairing.

This is where predicting Jurgen will give me a headache.

My choice would be

Castillo-Brooks-Cameron-Johnson
Castillo coming of playing playoff in mexican league, should be ready mentally for K.O game imo

I don't recall us going into a 3 man backline under Jurgen's tenure during a tourney.....has that ever happened?

i was saying that if we are down late in the game, because we have orozco on the field we can go to three in the back. AND yes klinssman would do that and just move johnson up the field... its a knock out game we want to win... not padder out to a 1-0 loss or something

Orozco scares me... where's Eric Lichaj when you need him?

Lichaj gives it his all, is confident, plays in Europe. I don't understand why JK doesn't rate him well......

I meant rate him well enough to put him on our Copa final roster (for LB/RB backup).

I'm afraid if Fabjo is on the right, he will get destroyed by Jeff Montero. He is not a good defender.

Without Yedlin available some difficult decisions will need to be made regarding the back line. Depending on what JK and his staff does will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the team. I can see 4 possibilities for how Yedlin's absence can be addressed-..
1) RB is filled by either Orozco or Birnbaum with the other 3 remaining the same.
2) Fabian moves to RB and either Castillo or Besler slots in at LB
3) Cameron slides into the RB spot and Birnbaum fills in as RCB
4) Bedoya drops back into the RB spot Jones moves to the right side and Nagbe or Zusi slot into the Left Midfield spot.

Based on the speed & quality of the attack from Ecuador I'd go with option #4. Bedoya's work rate and speed would allow him to fill in for Yedlin while Nagbe (my preference) would provide a bit more possession to the midfield.
