@skangles - Bruce may not agree with Zusi being classified in the "Falling" group, but in general (IMO) he didn't distinguish himself either. As a veteran (even if played out of his usual position) I expected more from him. I'd say he's going to struggle to be considered even 3rd string RB once the European players are made available (Yedlin, Chandler, Lichaj/Zusi)....; and with the talent at Wide Mid (Pulisic, Nagbe, Zardes, Green, Gooch, Manneh, etc...) his time with the team is likely coming to an end.

It was clear who stepped forward for future spots in march and beyond.

1. Feilhaber who was the best player on the field imo.
2. Villafana
3. Morris who we all knew about be it was reassuring ro see him score a goal.
4. Nagbe
5. Lletget who was fairly impressive in his first two caps

I think the camp was helpful for Bruce, in regards to a few players... but does he knows his XI and possible subs for the qualifiers yet-- not sure. It's all up in the air at this point. Saying that we will still get all 6 points.

My guess as to what Bruce will do against Honduras:

----Jozy--Wood-----
-Nagbe--Kljestan--Pulisic-
------Bradley------
-Fabian-Brooks-TBD-Yedlin-
-------Guzan--------

I think RCB will be Cameron if healthy and Birnbaum if Cameron isn't ready to go.

You think he liked Nagbe more than Feilhaber?

As a winger, definitely. It's still a position of need for USMNT. Arriola continuing to play well is the only thing I can think of that might put Nagbe on the bench. If Benny doesn't start in the advanced midfield spot then he'll definitely sub in between 65-75'

Thing is with the 2 forward 3 behind them formation I don't see Nagbe as a winger. With two forwards there should already be, at least in Jordan Morris, someone covering that space in front of the lb/rb and between the CB, if not behind the outside backs

so effectively they play as CAMs. 3 Cams yes i know, it's exciting. At that point Feilhaber doesn't need to dust anyone on the side if you keep Klesjtan.

I mean think back to how we played against Jamaica, Lletget didn't try to burn through anyone, he just played nice little exchanges with Feilhaber and Villafana.

I think this is fairly accurate representation of what Bruce will do, but I'm not a fan of Kljestan. I'd prefer to see Benny in that spot as I think he's quicker than SK.

The questions I still have regarding the squad going forward revolve around a couple area's/players.
1) Cameron - How much longer can he hold off some of the younger CBs? Birnbaum, CCV, Miazga are all nipping at his heals. If he can't get healthy & stay that way he might get overtaken.
2) Villafana - Can he possibly claim the LB spot and free up Fabian to move into midfield?
3) Which young attacker(s) push for inclusion. Green, Gooch, Arriola, Lletget, Zardes, Morris, etc... advance themselves enough to push SK out of the picture. Versatility is important for bench players especially during tournaments to cover for injuries.

Unless Arena is just talking to ESPN to make headlines this is what I fear his lineup will look like in March:

Jozy-Wood
Fab-Feilhaber- Pulisic
Bradley
Villafana-Brooks-Birnbaum (Besler? Gonzalez? not a lot of great options right now)- Zusi
Rimando

I think he goes ultra veteran (minus Wood/Pulisic/Brooks) and we get run out by Honduras. Only a coach like Arena would take a two game sample from Zusi, vs U23 squads, with the US B+/A- squad, and determine hes a better option than Yedlin or Chandler. The lineup I would like to see.
Pulisic-Wood-Arriola
Nagbe-Hyndman-Bradley
Fab-Brooks-Cameron (if healthy)-Yedlin
Guzan

@MSantoine I like where you're going but I really don't think we need Bradley on the field. What unique abilities does he bring? What I would Like to see?

Wood
Green
Hyndman
Pulisic Arriola
D. Will

Fab Brooks Vickers Chandler
Guzan

Alternates:
Horvath
Boyd
Wooten
Gooch
Perez
Yedlin
Villafana
Cam
Birnbaum
Lttetget
Nagbe

One question: Where is the leadership on the field? No, Bradley's abilities are not unique but IMO there is not a lot of leadership in the lineup you have supplied.

Good question, Brad Guzan has plenty of caps.
If Cam is healthy, I slide him in at CB.

I think the American soccer public puts too much value in experience and not enough on talent. For example, JK often picked guys like Beckerman, Wondo, and Alan Gordon who had lots of experience and very limited talent.
Experience isn't helpful when your physically and technically inferior.
