im calling BS on this. we cant get 4 points from CRC and Paraguay without JJ? my ass

come back when we win a QF and JJ is instrumental. otherwise playing him and all the other oldsters who wont be in russia has been a waste of time

if people think finishing ahead of CR and Par playing at home in 2016 is an accomplishment then JKs mind tricks are really impressive

looks like we are now back to 4-4-2 MB/JJ combo which has been pretty bad historically. we'll see. jury is far from in

I'm less confrontational, bu tI agree With Rain

1. Jones plays in russia 2018, at 37. A game to two games maybe a week worst case.

2. Jones doesn't play

If point 2 at some point we have to transition away from him. When are we going to do that? I mean it' slooking that BRadley might drop off on form, and not athleticism. So that's two spots. In World cup qualifiers?

This is a serious question what games do we have coming up?

this tournament comes down to how we line up and play v brazil (unless fail to get result v paraguay)

its that simple. the expectation wont be to win but to at least look like we belong and have fans proud about the effort (which of course leaves a lot of room for interpretation)

if we dont look good my guess the biggest area in question will the MF - MB/JJ combo and whether some combo of bedoya/zardes/zusi wide is/was best way to go

Can people stop saying MB and JJ combo? There is no combo at the moment. We aren't running a 4-4-2. Bradley is a DM and JJ and Bedoya are basically #8's. THEY are the combo. Not Bradley and one of them.

The only time we had them as a combo this year was the end of the CR game when we switched to a 4-4-2...for like 30' and the first half of the Ecuador game when Beckerman was the DM and those 2 were the 8's.

That's it. So for this tournament and these games there hasn't been a MB and JJ combo. People keep talking about it like we are running the 4-2-3-1 still and they are the 2 DMs.

By the way I am one of the people who think they are a bad combo together in the midfield. But right now they aren't a combo. the Combo is Jones and Bedoya.

IF wood goes up top and bedoya swings out wide you have MB (6) and JJ (8) manning the middle

my guess is that against a good team like brazil you get shredded through the middle because weve rarely seen good balance with that "combo" in the CM positions

That makes no sense. So you are talking about a 4-2-4? Our shape hasn't been that at all!

Bedoya has been playing centrally! Wood and Zardes have been the wide guys with Dempsey in the middle (usually as more of a false 9 than anything).

Our shape goes from 4-3-3- to 4-5-1. But with the 4-5-1 Bradley is still deep and the combo is still JJ and Bedoya.

Man, that is brutal because I thought is was going to include LA Galaxy footage but it's all his USMNT footage. Man, he is awful. The voice overs were hilarious and the ending was epic...

Props to the post and whoever made this.... lmao it looked so official with the USMNT badge at the begining!!!!!

Guy who runs @babynatsabroad (He's a must follow.)

There were a couple of accidental assists in there that nobody else in the world pulls off, IMO.

As bad as this is, his speed does demand attention on the pitch and he does hustle. Thankfully, touch is something that can be taught.

Zardes reminds me of Jesper Gronkjaer, the Danish Winger, who was also fantastically infuriating to watch but was effective in his own way.

Saying bye to YA and looking for site where the US isn't hated and bashed 95% of the posts. I hate know-it-all's and there are tons here! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everyone should talk all rose covered glasses type b/c constructive criticism is good, we haven't been playing well and things (and players) need changed that's fine but the bashing is ridiculous. If you hate the team so much go support another team.

What's the expected attendance for the match in Philly? Hopefully it is close to capacity since it will be a Saturday. I read there was 37k in Chicago, which is kind of disappointing considering Chicago is a soccer hotbed but it was a weekday and not Mexico playing.
