Yes, Klinsy should and will play his best 11. May not mean the same 11 due to injury/fatigue.

I honestly feel not taking Nguyen, or a Nguyen type player was a mistake.

4 3 3 is screaming for nagbe nguyen and say whoever you want at CDM, even if it' s after subs when jones or bradley get rest.

You. Guys are insane.... Wtf..... We just played one of our best games in years. We start the same players. If we need a goal pulisic comes in. If we are tied or need a goal nagbe comes in. Zusi comes in if we are winning as well with beckeeman

because Klinsmann's starting XI vs Costa Rica matches up with concacaf teams..... if he starts the same line up/subs vs (argentina, brazil, colombia, paraguay) we're F**KED!

Zardes needs to go to Europe and refine is technical skills. If he even gets marginally better he will be a very good player. He is a 2 way player, lots of hustle and hard work, puts himself into dangerous positions with runs, etc. He just is terrible with a first touch, and terrible finisher. If he can get even DECENT at those 2 things he will be a very nice player.

I think Brooks or Cameron will sit against Paraguay. We can't risk losing one or both of them for the Knockout stages and both are sitting on a yellow (one more and they sit for a game). We can get a result against paraguay with Besler/Birnbaum starting. I think Brooks is more likely to pick up another yellow than Cameron is. I say sit Brooks this match (which is hard to say because he has been SOOOOO Good, but we need him next round).

I also think we should sit Bedoya and start Nagbe. Bedoya has been very good for us these 2 games, but he picked up a knock and playing on 3 days rest is not good. Let him sit this game and he'll end up with 10 days rest. That would be huge. That would be big for any of our guys. Get as many guys a rest as we can without sacrificing. We have the depth to be able to do it.

An Ecuador win over Peru tonight would be a good thing for the Runner-up in A. That would ensure that Ecuador, Brazil and Peru all need a result to advance (although Ecuador could sit some guys against Haiti and still get 3).

1000% on Zardes... fortunately he is still 24, 2 yrs in Europe and he can improve a bit. Would absolutely love a Dutch move even if it's a small team.

But WOAAHH hold your horses did you not see that Colombia v Paraguay match? Were not through yet so lets actually win this match or get the result before we talk QF's. Paraguay is not a walk over team. The reason you bench players from the last 2 matches is because they have a knock, are tired or want to change tactics not because we are thinking of the QF's. If Brooks does get suspended i have confidence in Besler the guy may not be Bundesliga but hes played in the World cup and did well. No bigger stage than that.

In tonight's NBA game, the announcer said "Match-ups dictate line-ups"

Paraguay is a fast technically skilled team and Bradley will play like Colombia Bradley!

Wood
Pulisic - Dempsey
Jones - Nagbe - Bedoya
Fabian - Brooks - Cameron - Yedlin

If you go to a 4-4-2 against Paraguay, then this is my starting 11and formation variation of the 4-4-2:

-----Wood-----
----Dempsey------
Bedoya-----Jones----Zusi
------Bradley-----
Fabian--Brooks--/Cam---Yedlin
------Guzan-///-----

Dempsey drops a bit into the hole underneath Wood. Zusi will be able to possess better than Zardes.

Yes you could conceivably see Nagbe starting instead of Zusi, but I think Zusi gets the start.

Subs: Zardes on for either Wood or Dempsey, Nagbe on for either Zusi or Bedoya. And the last sub will be dictated by how the game is going; either Pulisic or Beckerman.

This will also open up space for Yedlin and Johnson to get forward and stretch Paraguays defense. Both Bedoya and Zusi will play more of a possession style outside middies.

As good as Jones played vs Costa Rica I think he should be benched and be a sub. I think Nagbe would suit us better vs Paraguay and also I want to see at least 45mins from pulisic. Also I think Besler should pair with Brooks, Cameron looked shaky and we can't afford that vs Paraguay.

I think we definitely see a 4-4-1-1. I thought we'd see it to start against CR, but moved to in the first half...much better for Deuce to play under another forward. More consistent flank D also

I think Bedoya sits with the knock.

I'd like to see Jones off center left side.... Nagbe above MB and Zusi at Rmid. Everything else the same in the back line. I understand the yellow card situation with the CBs, but I'd rather go with continuity in the middle of the D.

No way you take out Cameron. Even though he's looked shaky at times you could argue that Brooks' maturation is in large part due to him finally having a CB partner he is comfortable with and that knows how to play together with. I wouldnt want to risk having Brooks drop off from a new CB partner at this stage.

I understand the concerns. But Brooks is also comfortable with Birnbaum. Unless JK thinks that the 4-4-2 offers much more against Paraguay, there is no way we switch formations. We will be in the 4-3-3, you can bank on that. The majority of the team will stay the same.

Bedoya will likely sit with the knock (even if it's not the serious). We have a very capable guy that most think should be starting anyways to step in for him in Nagbe.

There is a chance one of the CB's sits, but I think there is a better chance that they sit in the 2nd half if we have a goal or 2 up on Paraguay. Can bet we will be pressing to get a goal. Give us some breathing room. All we need to do is get a draw.

Just a random thought. . . To the several nutsacks on here who have been calling for Jones to be phased out in the last 18 months: eat my balls. He's a difference-maker. We don't get through to the 2nd round without him.

And, Blaise - No, no, no. 5 on 5 basketball ain't soccer. Not the clear, constant mano a mano. And I'm going to shit my pants when the next guy says such and such a team is "fast and technically gifted" so we should match them with the same. You could say that about Jamaica for fuck's sake. I have a great idea, why don't we play a bunch of "fast and technically gifted players." Or, I don't know, maybe we should play a bunch of slow brick-footed players. I'm torn.

2tone probably has the lineup, but you guys gotta be aware of what you don't know. You know who's dinged, gassed.

Say Jones has a bad game and we lose to Paraguay then we know both will be out from the mnt in JK and Jones. A tie gets us trough not sure if we're gonna be defensive because we know Paraguay will go all out with nothing to lose but go for goals. Also they will be missing one of their top players because of a red. Also I think Jones and fabian, Brooks are on yellow so if they get a yellow they will be out for quarter finals. Either way should be a Fun game but I think usa gets a result I'm calling a 3-2 win.

im calling BS on this. we cant get 4 points from CRC and Paraguay without JJ? my ass

come back when we win a QF and JJ is instrumental. otherwise playing him and all the other oldsters who wont be in russia has been a waste of time

if people think finishing ahead of CR and Par playing at home in 2016 is an accomplishment then JKs mind tricks are really impressive

looks like we are now back to 4-4-2 MB/JJ combo which has been pretty bad historically. we'll see. jury is far from in

no thanks on the unsolicited offer to fellatio. or request? mandate...

Jones hasn't been phased out, yes he's performed well, none of us want him to be let off because of skill or value to the team.

He's 35 and it's been empirical that people don't decline when they are that age and still have their effectiveness and most of it predicated on physicality.

They fall off,

a cliff..

like one day he's damn good, the next day he's just not up for it. 35 going onto 37 is just concern for our world cup squad. I don't know how you can fault anyone for wanting that position to be filled by someone younger. He's been in all our big games. Yes. You know, we've lost alot of those. ...

I'm not accusing him that it's his fault, but he is part of our makeup.

Nguyen and Nagbe aren't Jones, you will get different things.

Nagbe and Nguyen prob won't chase down (athleticism, requirement is to keep that up at 37 38) dudes in the attacking third at the top of the diamond with ravenous urgency at the top of the diamond (on a side note: Why don't we call Jones a no. 10 like we do Bradley, again?)

They'll try to play it differently, and I'm not totally on the Nguyen soap box, either. I was on Trapps until clearly he showed he wasn't ready. But at least Trapp showed it, was tried out, I feel like there are midfielders we'll never know about due to the fact that they weren't tested out. We exhausted the trials with Mix. Nguyen started I believe 1 game, vs Iceland. He had a lot of training sessions. I don't know what went on. I believe in JK in that he wasn't suitable for our squad going forward.

I'm not saying your wrong, what I'm saying is that Jermaine Jones has been a difference maker partly because he was allowed to.

The line up should depend on injuries and fitness, for that below is my best guess (not what I would like but what I think we shall see)

---Wood---
--Dempsey---
Zardes---Jones--Zusi
---Bradley---
Fabian-Brooks-/Cam--Yedlin
---Guzan-///---

What I would like

Wood

Dempsey

Nagbe
Fabian Jones
Bradley

Besler- Brooks --Cam-Yedlin

We could then if we need offense bring in Pulisc and take out besler and move Fabian back to lb.
