I agree with others Paraguay looked dangerous...we'll need to earn that point we need to get through...Even with 10 players they looked relentless.

I think the only change should be nagbe or pulisic for zardes. Zardes was awful. It's really a shame because he does a great job of putting himself in positions to make dangerous plays and then he always screws it up with a bad touch, wrong type of pass, or a miss kick. Seriously he gets so many touches around the 18 that turn into turnovers. It's pathetic.

w/ regards to Zardes

MAn I totally see the effort, the kid has a heart of gold, he's incredible teammate, he does all work necessary, you'll never call him lazy

but damnit man what I wouldn't give for him to have even maybe like 10 to 14 percent more technique.

I'm so sick of Zardes taking a spot from - Zusi, Pulisic, Morris, Rubin, Wood (if Altidore were healthy),. . . the list goes on. Get him out. He's hurting us today and he'll hurt us in Russia.

Zardes needs to go to Europe and refine is technical skills. If he even gets marginally better he will be a very good player. He is a 2 way player, lots of hustle and hard work, puts himself into dangerous positions with runs, etc. He just is terrible with a first touch, and terrible finisher. If he can get even DECENT at those 2 things he will be a very nice player.

I think Brooks or Cameron will sit against Paraguay. We can't risk losing one or both of them for the Knockout stages and both are sitting on a yellow (one more and they sit for a game). We can get a result against paraguay with Besler/Birnbaum starting. I think Brooks is more likely to pick up another yellow than Cameron is. I say sit Brooks this match (which is hard to say because he has been SOOOOO Good, but we need him next round).

I also think we should sit Bedoya and start Nagbe. Bedoya has been very good for us these 2 games, but he picked up a knock and playing on 3 days rest is not good. Let him sit this game and he'll end up with 10 days rest. That would be huge. That would be big for any of our guys. Get as many guys a rest as we can without sacrificing. We have the depth to be able to do it.

An Ecuador win over Peru tonight would be a good thing for the Runner-up in A. That would ensure that Ecuador, Brazil and Peru all need a result to advance (although Ecuador could sit some guys against Haiti and still get 3).

Yep, Jurgen is gonna bench the captain. Who, by all accounts, had a pretty good bounce-back game against CR after his calamitous game against Colombia.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Zardes is in for his work rate and the occasional moments of good soccer he displays. But I also think Nagbe has the same amount of work rate and so does Zusi. Pulisic is not going to start in this tournament.

Winger will get even more deep with Green, Rubin, Manneh, and Gyau coming into the fold this next year. Zardes eventually will be moved to striker depth(which is his best position).

Striker depth for the next couple of years:

Dempsey
Wood
Zardes
Morris
Altidore
Johannsson
Boyd

I honestly feel not taking Nguyen, or a Nguyen type player was a mistake.

4 3 3 is screaming for nagbe nguyen and say whoever you want at CDM, even if it' s after subs when jones or bradley get rest.

Can't think like this. Even if we lose fab, brooks, cam, and bedoya to suspension it's worth it. Most people agreed that qf appearance was the goal. Make it out of the group and lose to Brazil. No shame in that. Even with all our guys we probably lose to Brazil. Gotta make sure we get to knockout round.

If we go up by a goal or two then by all means sub out brooks to make sure but he's definitely gotta be there to start.

I agree. Fab, Cam and Brooks should play, but Bedoya and his dead leg will probably need resting.

I expect JK to keep the back 4 intact, insert Beckerman for Jones and Zusi for Bedoya and play a 4-4-1-1

Yed, Cam, Broks, FJ
Zardes, Beckerman, Bradley, Zusi
Dempsey
Woods

I disagree that even with all our guys we lose to a Brazil B side.

at full strength we can beat a Brazil B side at home and make the Semi's.
At less than full strength we can still beat Paraguay.

It's not like going from Cameron to Birnbaum, Bedoya to Nagbe is going to lose a whole lot for us.

Cameron has been good no doubt, but he hasn't been appreciably better than Birnbaum recently. Bedoya has been very good too, but we don't lose a whole lot with Nagbe (some would say we gain).

It's not like we are saying put Castillo in for FabJo. But if we have more than capable replacement at a position, and that starter is old/injured/or sitting on a yellow then absolutely rest them/sit them for Paraguay.

If those replacements weren't capable guys then there is no way I would advocate it.

Besler for Brooks, Birnbaum for Paraguay, Nagbe for Bedoya or Jones, Pulisic for any of the front 3. All of those guys can come in and put in a good performance without us losing much (if anything) against Paraguay.

You are basing your argument with the thought we have already advanced. Gulati's comments earlier this week put JK's job as manager in question so he will do everything he can to assure advancement.

Also, we have no idea who we will be playing if we advance. If we win and Colombia lose (Costa Rica need that match as well to try and advance), we will likely win the group on goals scored, probably avoiding Brasil. James will need shoulder surgery so he may be rested for that match, and they may rest others having advanced, so it is not as impossible as you may think.

You. Guys are insane.... Wtf..... We just played one of our best games in years. We start the same players. If we need a goal pulisic comes in. If we are tied or need a goal nagbe comes in. Zusi comes in if we are winning as well with beckeeman
