I want the backbone to be the same
Beckerman at cdm- he can do what he does best against Costa Rica he couldn't do that against Columbia
Bradley and nagbe at cam
Pulisic wood zardes up top

I don't think we will see it but I'd like to see that jones shouldn't start and I'd almost say start bedoya over Bradley but he's our captain and we gotta hope he can take over a game against a team like Costa Rica also Dempsey will probs start

Vs Paraguay bedoya comes back into the lineup for nagbe

Sad too because most colombians arent even from there. Most travelled thats the more saddening part. Most dedication from the colombians...

Kendall Waston with a straight red. One less worry against Costa Rica now.

Playing Colombia first might have been the best thing for us in this case. You play Costa Rica, who is one one point and get a win, we are at 3 points going into the match vs. Paraguay. Paraguay either loses to Colombia and gets a draw and they are forced to come out and attack vs. us.

I think we are favorites in the final two matches, we have to finish our chances and not give up goals off set pieces otherwise we should be fine. We beat Costa Rica 2-0.

Dempsey still starts? Like 2tone said and I 100% agree he barely pressure backlines and not a CF Wood is...

Also Bradley cant have another one of these or were done...

I don't get all the Dempsey bashing. He's the only one that was ever in any danger of scoring. He never appears to work hard. If you've ever seen him play you'd know this. Also.... I've been complaining about Bradley's play for the last year. MLS has hurt him badly.

God this team would have looked so different with Jozy. Look what you did Jozy ('s body), lol.

Lmao. Someone on another thread who was at the match said the off the ball movement was bad. You mean Jozy's vertical uninspired runs would have helped?

It is similar to their favorite NFL (Cowboys) team in the playoffs, only every 4 years. So, I am not surprised that Columbia or Argentina fans do not want to miss the playoff

Everyone here pretty much has USA winning. Just remember is 1 game and they still have an OK squad that is still capable of winning just saying don't get to confident. But if we lose I'm sure the JK will have their great excuses on why we should keep him is never ending.

Fabian Johnson is our best attacker and is wasted at LB. for all the possession we had v Colombia, we still couldn't get him the ball in a meaningful spot to try and create. I'd love to see Castillo (or anyone really) at LB with Fabian pushed up into the attack. Wood and Zardes are not wingers.

The game against Costa Rica is a must win and to feel somewhat comfortable going into Paraguay it's really a must win by multiple goals. Costa Rica can't afford to drop points against and likewise has everything to play for.

This should be one of our signature games that showcases the Klinsmann attack(whatever that may be).

For a pick me up here's a list of all of the recent meaningful games we played against Costa Rica at home this millennium (5 wins, 3 draws, 0 losses).

2013 Gold Cup: 1-0 W
2013 WCQ: 1-0 W
2009 WCQ: 2-2 D (the game Bornstein became a hero in Honduras)
2005 Gold Cup: 0-0 D
2005 WCQ: 3-0 W
2002 Gold Cup: 2-0 W
2001 WCQ: 1-0 W
2000 WCQ: 0-0 D

I'm sorry, haven't been on the boards for a couple days, but...

Has anyone said anything with regards to Bradley being back in his CDM "preferred" position, and not doing a good job of it?

The biggest story to me, with regards to the whole JK thing was his telling players like Dempsey, Bradley, Altidore to not suck after signing that MLS deal. Because if you guys start to suck, then we're going to suck collectively. This statement was 2013 going into 2014, the world cup. Is it me, or does everyone forget he said that? I think Don Garber said something to the effect of..nooooo!!! that's not true.

Well it was true and it did happen. Bradley has not been better than
klesjtan, nguyen, nagbe, jones etc all these players coming back. BRadley had a very identifiable skill set, and what set him apart was that he had showcased that in Europe. He was our European Midfielder, he HAD to be better than any MLS. Fair or unfair.

Him being put on a equal footing, and him not being able to distinguish himself from other MLS performers (giovinco makes that team go, not altidore, not Bradley) from our national team makes me wonder what else aside from past national team experience distinguishes him?

Let me disclose fully, that is MY favorite performer since 2007. He's a jersey guy, "fist pump". But lets be honest, we all said that if JK put Bradley back into his preferred role he would start hitting those passes, our team would start looking better. It's one game sure. We have tow more games to spare, really. An early exit doesn't really put us in any dire straight. It will offer us evidence of what works and what's just not going to work.

And this isn't an MLS slight. I'm saying Europe is better than the MLS, not that MLS is worthless, we have players in the MLS. IF they are outperforming our nats like Diskerud, then we should look into them.
