There's too many what ifs to come across if he chose to represent US instead of Italy. Would Villareal have been hot to go get him if he wasnt a beast for Italy at the U21 Euros? Would Fiorentina had gone after him if he wasnt repping Italy's national team?

Would an MLS team have sought him out in 2010-12 if he had 50+ caps for USA and 20+ goals?

No one knows.

Only thing we do know is all he does is score goals. 11 goals in 20 matches at U21 level. 50+ goals for Villareal in really 4 seasons, with another 20 goals in 40 european games. 16 in his one full season with Fiorentina. 6 goals in his two healthy years(21 matches) with Azzuri.

Plug him in for Jozy straight up and US is better. If Jozy can score 30 goals in almost 100 games for USA Im guessing Rossi would have scored close to 50.

Rossi, as is, the guy who was waiting, perfectly able to play in Euro 2012, 2010, 2014... yes after injuries, would have been an upgrade over our corps.

The Truth makes a great point that an added negative would have been travel, but had he chosen us, we would have been better off than what we had. I'm not predicting any results. I'm saying he would have strengthened our squad. Like, imagine Pulisic choosing Croatia, Nagbe choosing Liberia, we're not winning world cups with them, but that diminishes our talent level.

MSantoine hit the nail on the head, that move was both ambitious for his international and club aspirations. He was at once, a more valuable commodity as an Italian international.

Rossi made his choice and I feel zero sympathy for him. His celebration after a goal in the confederations cup was extremely disrespectful. I have no issues with players joining other national teams. However at least try to hold your celebration in till the end of the game. In my opinion he is just expressing this as a way to try to get into mls. Which if he turns out getting signed to mls will endear him even more. I have no ill will towards subotic, Akindele, Brizeula, Najar, De La Garza. Those guys picked their squad and were respectful about it.

Id take him on the Fire tomorrow, exactly the type of player the team needs. Oh, and always should've chosen the USA over Italy of course. He'd have been a good player, and definitely of use in competitions like this one and previous when Jozy was injured.
