Based on what I have read, heard in commentary, and seen in these two friendlies, this is the starting lineup which gives us the best chance to win against Colombia.
Formation 4-3-3

Woods Deuce Zardes

JJ Bradley Nagbe

FabJo Brooks Cam Yedlin

Guzan

Subs: Pulisic Bedoya Zusi as needed

Woods and Zardes changing sides as needed. Same with JJ and Nagbe.

naw man, Brian Sciaretta nailed the best starting XI

Dempsey - Wood
Pulisic - Nagbe - Bedoya
Bradley
Johnson - Brooks - Cameron - Yedlin
Guzan

(I'd switch Johannsson for Dempsey and Kenny Saief for bedoya if that were possible)

Yeah, notice I didn't say what the BEST starting XI would be. I said what the starting XI will be. And frankly, after last night's showing, I don't see why it shouldn't be that. Like I (and Stu Holden) said, I would rather have dynamic guys like Pulisic and Nagbe to come off the bench if we need to score a goal. You can't honestly tell me you'd rather have Jones, Zardes, etc. in that situation?

You need Jones in there. His engine is needed. His hustle. His physicality. He's a an incredible athlete at 34 and still has game and makes a difference. I want Nagbe and Puli starting too, but we still need Jones as of today.

I actually didn't watch the game, my streak ended from 2009!

Some good line-ups on here, but overall this team is still handicapped with Beckerman, Wondo, Zusi, Orozoco, and Castillo. I'm also not a fan of bedoya, kitchen, and Besler.

I've always preached about having players with 1 vs 1 skills for the USMNT to play an attractive style of soccer and now you're seeing it with the Pulisic and Nagbe addition.

After watching the 2 friendlies it appears as if the game plan (at least against the S. American teams) is to frustrate the opponent for the first 45-60 minutes by grinding them using Jones, Bradley, Bedoya, Beckerman, & Zusi. They'll sit back and absorb the attack, be physical in challenges, and generally be a block of 7-9 players behind the ball. Then for the final 30 minutes or so JK will introduce the quick technical players (Nagbe & Pulisic) to try and exploit tired legs.

Don't be surprised if Zusi starts over Zardes and/or Wood in the first game to be a pest and give JK another speed option off the bench for late game attacks.

Starting XI Vs Colombia:

----Wood------Dempsey------Bedoya---
---Jones------Beckerman----Bradley----
-Fabian---Brooks------Cameron---Yedlin--
--------------Guzan---------------

Subs: Nagbe for Beckerman (Bradley drops to the #6), Pulisic for Bedoya, Zardes for Dempsey/Wood in last 10-15 minutes.

This isn't how I'd like us to line-up but I think this is what JK will do for the 1st game. Beckerman gets dropped for the 2nd game, Bedoya slots into RM w/ Bradley in the center and either Zardes or Zusi starts up top.

yea this is the starting lineup...
depending on hows the result going will determine the subs.

If we need to attack and goals... well get pulisic, nagbe, Zusi

If we have a 2-0 lead well prob try and lock things up by putting in beckerman kind of substitute.

Also Zardes ugh so frustrating at time, can be good and can be god awful at times. his work rate though is indisputable

Beckerman will start with MB and JJ. They said that during the last game. JK likes Beckerman vs Colombia and may change after that.

They actually confirmed that during the broadcast? I'm pretty sure they were just talking about Beckerman and saying he's a favorite of Jurgen. I don't remember anyone saying he is definitely starting.

But if he does, and performs poorly and we lose, Jurgen will fall on his own sword.

The reason JK likes Beckerman especially in an opening game is because JK knows Beckerman is going to stay home and be discipline in his role. With another player there they may tend to drift too far forward and leave a huge gap between the attacking players and the defense. Luckily, Bradley has an amazing motor and can fill that role while also adding an offensive spark.
I hope JK doesn't start Beckerman as I think he waste another player of quality. I think in this tournament you need to play your top 13 players(excluding GKs) in each game if the situation is right. Beckerman is not one of them despite being the only true defensive midfielder on the roster.

The way Klinsy selected this roster, you almost have to have pullisic and nagbe come off the bench. Reason being is, there are no other dangerous options on the bench and you want to finish games with your best 11 in case you need an equalizer or a winner.

The risk in this strategy is if the score gets out of hand in the first half. I believe Klinsy believes the strength of this team is its work rate & defensive discipline and results wont be pretty, but with the squad's buy-in, it will be effective.

I think this will be a farewell tour for wondo and becks. Klinsy knows by now that they have nothing to offer at this level and we have much more talented options.

I now understand that zardes is on the field for his work rate and to chase the ball, not necessarily to create or score.

The idea of the 3 man midfield with Bradley, jones, and bedoya won't produce beautiful football but it will stuff the middle of the field and frustrate opponents, in hopes that yedlin and fab can overlap from the wings.

I hope klinsy is setting the stage to bring on our younger higher quality attacking players in the fall such as rubin, wright, Picault, healthy Gyau, Arriola, healthy boyd, more polished zealalum, and green. Future looks bright

I would like Nagbe to start (like everyone) BUT! To have Nagbe and Pulisic come of the bench and act as super subs is incredible and will cause any team trouble. Seems like the game will be at 100 degrees on friday and have these guys coming at you nice and fresh is gonna be massive.

also I think people come to realization that Jones is still important especially if you saw that Guatemala v USA where we had no bite and fight. Jones brings that still and is still at 34 fit as hell. His MLS play also shows his still playing at a high level. This going to get really physical and we can def count on Jones on that aspect lol.

One issue with the whole leave Pulisic and Nagbe as weapons off the bench strategy is remember these arent friendlies anymore. We only get 3 subs. You have one 1st half injury, or a defender need to come off and now you cant bring them both in. You start your best XI. If they tire towards the end you sub them out. Its not like Nagbe doesnt go 90' week in and week out for Portland
