This year is big for Stanko if he can push into a regular spot he may end up farther along than the others. Steffen can play as well. Freiburgers for all of these two make it.

Yeah I only remember like 3 players from that team. Yedlin Cropper and Gil. While I don't even follow France but I know Pogba was on that team and during the Euros several other players were mentioned as part of it.

Did a lot of those players max out their potential early on and that was it? I am not expecting them all to be USMNT players but I would at least think you would hear about them joining a team.

Right? I mean, JK waved the USMNT carrot in front of Gil. But his performances haven't merited inclusion in the senior squad. Same for Trapp.

How you can put that on any of the coaching for the USMNT is tough. The kids have to develop. Into men. And that's just a REAL tough reality.

Looking at the 2013 U20 team is unfair. And if anything shows we are right on track with other countries.

France seems to be on the high end with Umiti, Pogba, & Digne coming through.

Spain has had just Alcacer, and he's borderline 1st team for them.

South Korea has had just one player become a national team regular.

Portugal has had just Jose Mario

Columbia has had just two.

We've got Yedlin already, and its likely that Acosta will eventually be in this group as well.

If anything its the 2011 group that we should be pissed about. Other than Wood, who from that group has become anything? I know we were missing some of our euro guys but from the 2011 failed CONCACAF qualifying team, its a whole lot of disappointment on that roster

I agree that 2011 was a total disappointment.

Agudelo should have been on it, and should have powered that team.

damn 2013 team for spain

jese isn't matriculated to men's team?

I remember how Defeulo (sp) just destroyed our team... Yedlin included. I mean truth be told, he was pretty special looking.

Andre Gomes is making contributions to portugals senior team. He was on the euro squad and started a game as well. Not sure benchmarking us to any of these teams in this regard is fair when the overall talent to break in for the referenced teams is so much higher than the USA talent; not to mention the depth of the pools comparatively.

I would say it's more fair. Our youngsters don't have to be that good, our senior squad weren't filled with Iniesta's, Xavi's, Debuchy, Benzema, Valbuena, coentrao, coutinho, quaresma

Exactly. Our youngsters just have to beat out Matt Besler, Kyle Beckerman, Demarcus Beasley, & Ale Bedoya and cant do that

Ake is a LB, holding midfielder. I have heard Ake will be playing in the midfield this year...at least to start, so that may affect Hyndman's playing time.

I can't see any outcome other than Miazga being loaned out. His confidence took a hit being yanked in the Swansea match and he hasn't really had a match of any type since. Chelsea are rumored to be on the verge of signing another defender and chasing another one, so that won't help (but they are also rumored to be selling Gary Cahill, so that is something). They also have 2 defenders returning from loans in the Bundesliga, though I dare say only one will stay and get significant minutes.

Hyndman out for all of preseason with an ankle injury. Worst possible timing for him as now others will get to impress Howe. Also if they start out doing well they likely won't be looking to shake up the heart of their midfield. Real tough break for Hyndman. Could end up not playing much at all this year.

typical american bad luck. Good thing for him is he is young. He'll get his cup matches and im sure he will still get a chance. Never expected him to lock down midfield right away.

Caleb Stanko is joinging Vaduz in the Swiss Super League on a one year loan. Seems like a great move as he works himself back into game shape both physically and tactically. Swiss League has some good players in it. Vaduz doesnt seem to have any great young up and comers and all their central midfielders seem to be in the 27-31 yr range.

On paper this looks like a great match. Hopefully it works out for him and he can go back to the bundesliga next season

Yep looks like a good move for him. The USMNT could greatly benefit from some new blood at CM. He was also having a good preseason with Frieburg.

Sources are saying Yedlin is on the way out of Spurs with an announcement coming soon. Will be curious to see where it is too, and whether its a loan or transfer

I have a feeling it'll be on a permanent.
