Legend getting his final game at the Azteca. 42-43 years old and still has more talent than most in the US and Mexican pool. Hit a shot off the crossbar. One of the bests players I've ever seen. Unforgettable goal vs Real Madrid via free-kick. Goodbye another legend.

Some of the best skills ive seen in person at soccer games came from Blanco. Man I hated his Mexican ass until he played for the Fire. (Basically Dennis rodman joining the Bulls in another context). Especially considering the severe decline of the club since his departure, his status only grows in Chicago soccer. He's up there with Novak, Klopas, Armas and Gutierrez now. Stoichkov was a fun watch, Sebastian Grazzini as well, but there was always something about Blanco. Only thing better was beating Mexico in '02 when he was supposed to crush us (nice save in that match by Friedel on Blanco) and seeing him and his cronies walk off with their tails between their legs.

***on a personal note, at age 25 I altered my lifelong PK routine to mimic Blanco's, because to me it's flawless.

No look passes. Control with the glutes. Passes off his back. One of the most creative players I've seen that is not Brazilian. His pk kick style and free kick are pretty badass. The long distance run up with a nice soft touch finish.
