RSL and FCD academies are the only domestic club sides represented, but the reason I'm posting this is because the group draw was announced yesterday, as follows:

Group A
US U-20 MNT
CF Monterey
Fulham FC
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

Group B
Everton FC
Kyoto Sanga FC
Real Salt Lake
Tigres UANL

Group C
FC Dallas
Fluminense FC
Middlesborough FC
Queretaro FC

I live close and have kept an eye on the tourney for the past several years...but this is the first time I've thought about actually going. All of these teams have been involved and done well in previous tournaments and/or are academy league champs. In reference to Group C, from the FCD article: "Both Fluminense and Middlesbrough are the current Academy champions from their respective countries, while Querétaro is the reigning Liga MX U-20 Apertura regular season champion."

Hoping FCD (and to a lesser extent RSL) can do well against the "big boys", but I won't be too butthurt if we get slapped down in unceremonious fashion...you can't get better without challenging yourself against quality opposition.

Being that FCD and RSL are 2 of the better run academies in the US I am extremely interested to see how they fare against these clubs.

Now if they could somehow air these games like 2 years ago, I'm all for watching these teams

Agreed, add LAG and you're looking at the widely accepted top 3 academies for MLS sides. If we can show well it will be a boon for sending some of these younger guys to overseas academies, and will show the world that we're still getting better year after year.

@EKnezzy - I'm with you, would much rather watch these games from the comfort of my couch.

I will be attending to watch the US u20s as I did last cycle. Good to see what players get called so early in the cycle. Not sure when roster will be released, hope to see our Euro talent tho.. Akale, Lennon, Pulisic, Scott, Perez...

Surprised River Plate isn't in the tournament, they wrecked teams.

ZERO chance Pulisic is there. If he isn't with the USMNT and is released for a youth tournament it will be for the Olympic qualifiers.

As much as I hate to, I agree...even if they did release him, it may be a better idea to stay in Dortmund and continue getting minutes with the first team than starring in a youth tourney. There are definite upsides to being a starter on a team that's bound to go far in the tourney, and it would definitely increase my chances of attending, but getting starts and minutes for the second place Bundesliga team probably outweighs those upsides.

Roster released today.

Kind of disappointed, not seeing all our pros. Akale, Scott, EPB, Barbir..etc. Still excited to see how they preform.

Pretty good roster though. Nice to see Lennon and Saucedo and Redding and Mansaray. Also Pulisic at some point might be with this team as well as CCV and EPB and Akale and Zelalem. Remember Zelalem is still age eligible. A lot of potential talent missing.

I'd be surprised if Cam Lindley isn't somewhere in the central midfield.

In addition to those mentioned above by 2tone, Kyle Scott and Antonee Robinson are also age eligible and likely to get called in later on.

Excited to see Lennon, Sabbi, and Saucedo.

Cam Lindley can play and is a real leader. Best player yet produced by the Fire I can say that confidently albeit the list isn't great.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
