Not sure what to make of it. Back injuries are tough, and a lot times scans show nothing because the problem is tied to the nerves so there is no "concrete proof" of an injury although the player is in pain.

One would expect Miazga, his agent, or Chelsea to make some sort of rebuttal if he was/is in fact injured. Faking/blackmailing is a pretty big accusation to make of someone. If he is faking it though, definitely not a good look.

The only fact one can be clear about is the manager does not want him there. This is just him speaking in an interview and there is nothing official from Nantes.

It is standard operating for the parent club to evaluate the player as well in these circumstances. I am sure once a medical is done by Chelsea we will get more word on what is going on from either Chelsea or Nantes, or even both.

At any rate, it seems like the atmosphere went toxic with the new manager so getting out may not be a bad move. Chelsea don't want to lose value on an asset so they will work to make this fit.

If I were a betting man, I would wager a loan to Vitesse with an option to buy back at the end of the transfer window is on the cards.

I was convinced that a Miazga-CCV partnerdhip was going to be the backbone of the national team. It is disappointing to see both players in such bad situations.

Sent on loan to Reading for the rest of the season.

Miazga is realistically done at Chelsea. He needs to go to another team, not in the premier league, to get minutes next year.

Just looked at the Reading roster...they have a lot of defenders listed in the first team...but it looks like they have had a rash of injuries comparing the first team roster and their most recent matches.

On the positive side, it is a fresh start in a new league that will not require too much of a language problem (not that that was an issue). MM played at Vitesse with another Reading player who just went there on loan as well, so he will at least know somebody.

On the negative side, Reading are in the relegation zone and any glaring mistake will be magnified.

Yes, he is done at Chelsea, and I am sure MM knows this. In a way Chelsea's desperation to be a top dog in the US market has driven this decision...on the heels of the Pulisic signing they did not want to go backwards with any perceived negative press over his situation at Nantes. Nothing was mentioned about the cancellation of the Nantes loan on the Chelsea web page, only that he was joining Reading.

I did not see anything publicly attributed to MM about the discord at Nantes, so kudos to him for his professionalism.

not a bad move. I like it. Centerbacks need to play more than almost any position imo, because consistency is the biggest thing for cbs. (something I always worry about with Brooks)

Well I dare say he would be welcome back at Vitesse...and it looks like Reading wanted him back as well so he may have options if Chelsea do decide to sell (and they will).
