Omar Gonzales ties it up for Pachuca. Great celebration. Higher in the pecking order than Besler I would think starting and playing well in Mexico.

I think Gonzalez will have a chance to backup Cameron in march. I am not sure he will be competing with besler for LCB. I think Gonzalez is RCB and will be going against cameron for the starting spot. I think he deserves a chance for a recall the question will be him or miazga to backup cameron. Miazga should feature for the u-23 team but its all up to the club. Since zouma went down with the injury I think they will only let him go with the full national team.

Good to see Gonzo playing well. Adds very good depth for the USMNT. With Cameron still injured and Stoke buying a DM, Intjink Cameron's minutes will diminish.

Of all the moves this winter I think Gonzo's was the wisest and best for the USMNT. He had nothing left to prove in MLS, and if he had a knock against him it was against smaller faster players. In the games I have seen him play so far he has shown good positioning and the ability to dominate in the air on set pieces. I agree that Cameron will start to see fewer minutes and he could see a move back to MLS this summer as a D mid option for a team.

IMO Villafana's move to Mexico could turn out to be just as important as Gonzo's move. He locked down a starting position on Santos Laguna's team and is playing well. If he continues to play well, he could really help USMNT at left back and allow FabJo to move up to LW. Hell, Mexico is already talking about him being called up in March as he is eligible for them too.

Looks like Ventura has been relegated to the reserves.
He still has all the chance in the world to be the USA right back in the future (JK plays Orozco and Evans there, I'd argue Ventura makes a better RB than both). A few adjustments and he will be back or transferred. I would absolutely love to see Ventura make the step up and play in Germany with the rest of our young talent, even if it's 2 Bund initially... Here's a "2014 WC German-style" back four:

Alvarado is a relatively young CB (23). He is going to have growing pains where he's a bit inconsistent in his play. This should not be a surprise to anyone. Most CBs don't really reach their best until their mid-late 20s, so I wouldn't read too much into his getting benched and/or dropped to the reserves every once in a while. He will hopefully take the coaches Criticism, learn a lesson from this incident, and return a better player in a week or 2.
Alvarado is still one of our 6 or 7 best CBs and is Versatile enough that he can play across the entire back-line if need be. I'm not saying he should be starting for the USMNT or even make the March qualifier team, but you don't disregard this type of player either. WC Qualification is a long, drawn-out process so I wouldn't write this kid off anytime soon.

Los Xolos vs. Queretaro tonight at 11pm on Azteca America.

How many of the eight Americans will we see? The safe money is on three (Orozco, Arriola and Bornstein). Not sure whether Gil is injured as he hasn't dressed for Queretaro lately.

The young soccer careers of Rubio Rubin and Brady Scott are headed in completely opposite directions.
