For the life of me I can't remember who on the forum is always harping on it, but surely a professional Futsal league has sent him into fits...

Say what you want, Cuban isn't a dummy about where to invest so he obviously sees some potential behind the league...just another sign soccer in the US is growing.

Playing Futsal is a great way to develop close control, movement off the ball, and speed of thought. Speed of play is incredibly fast. Granted a lot of the same skills can be developed playing small side games (4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5) on small fields, but Futsal fields can be relatively cheap to deploy in congested areas where it would be difficult to install/maintain full sized fields. Regardless it's another way to attract young players to the sport and may yield positive returns for the future.

Dolcem.

I'm sure he'll get season tickets and the TV package. Hell, he's probably the commissioner.

"Major League Soccer, the top professional soccer league in the United States, has failed to gain the following enjoyed by the NBA, National Football League or Major League Baseball."

Yeah I've been working closely with Cuban on this one.

It's great news and hopefully leads to the sport growing in popularity here, especially in the inner cities where grass is hard to find. As blaise and I always say, if black Americans got really into futsal, we would become a superpower (it's basically the formula Brazil has).

Futsal is great for a player's development and especially for an American player because it forces you to play really technical soccer (the part of the game Americans lack most). Indoor soccer, on the other hand, is the opposite. It encourages you to play kick and run. For whatever reason (though perhaps for that very reason), American coaches adopted indoor soccer for their winter needs, and it just makes the problem worse.

It's times like these when I wish the USSF had the power to enact change on a grassroots level. Imagine if the head of the USSF could tell all coaches at all levels to head to their local basketball courts to play futsal rather than play indoor and that they would listen. I'm dreaming though.
