Awesome hopefully he gets more playing time throughout the rest of the season. To bad they were down to 10 players when he came in. I'm sure we will see him sooner rather than later with the MNT.

If we have a bs friendly against a weak opponent this summer I think it would be a great time to take a look at a few of the guys who are breaking in to their respective 1st teams or on the cusp of it, like Perez, CCV, EPB, McKinze Gaines, etc.

on the subject of perez

I found this to be... interesting..

I don't have anything against his mindset, at least that I wish he would change. It's perfectly alright to have differences in opinions.

I'm worried that we don't see youth development as an investment as opposed to them earning it. Because in a sense, we can flip it right? We haven't earned the right to be a power in soccer, because we need to put in the work and investment. Want trees, seeds need to be planted.. instead of.. these trees haven't earned the right to be in our plot.

@Regicide - A while back (about a month or 2 ago) I was watching an MLS halftime conversation in which Friedel & Lalas were talking about the young players in MLS. Friedel made the statement/claim that there were guys on his US U-19 team who were on the bench for their MLS clubs that were better quality than the older players in front of them. Brad went so far as to claim that if Pulisic had signed with MLS he'd still be in the PDL or a bench player. Lalas about had a hissy fit claiming that any team in MLS would have had Pulisic as a starter....and that no MLS club would use less talented players.
Yet when I've look back at this past MLS season I've seen a fair number of teams using old players who have name recognition over younger talent. Galaxy, NYRB, & NYCFC, are prime examples of this.

Lalas thinks about Pulisic, what we see, who he is NOW as a function of just who he is.

I along with, presumably Hugo Perez, believe that Pulisic, is that MLS PDL guy, WITH the experience of being thrown out there with the wovles, and having to make mechanisms in his brain, "how do I solve these problems"

Which is why I alwyas ask the question... what do you mean spoiling him or rushing him? IF you can afford to give him experience, you're not allowing for time for him to prove himself, that's not what you're doing, you're forcing a growht in his brain for the betterment of his AND your future(clubt eam).

Maybe using it to have a early call-up to the U.S squad?

I'm not sure Bruce is the "How high?" type of guy.

The thing I remember most about Arena was his statement on Adu who already was a consistent starter for DC United and his not selecting him to the WC squad "I don't know too many 16 year olds on World Cup Rosters". I knew of one other at the time, Theo Walcott, lol.

It is nice to have him. But I think our days of this guy, other than CCV, or that guy needs to be cap tied is quietly going away. With players like Gaines, Wright, Carrelton, Seargent, amongst others coming up let him go to soccer Siberia of El Salvador if he wants to. He would make much more money as a US international then as a Salvadorian international.

He's got options.

Like Bruce said, all that's required is a passport. After that, Bruce is going to require that he do what you want him to do after he commits, in practices and games. If it's even a discussion at that point.

He's got options. Obviously one is better than the other but it's not a crime for him to at least see what El Salvador has going on.

He said neither national side has contacted him that's why he is keeping his options open. The same goes with roldan and others possibly. I mean he is still young only 18 once he commits he can't go back he is just seeing what they got to offer.
