I'm shocked Seattle moved Martins. Imo he was the player that made their attack happen. Great chemistry with Deuce. The perfect quick savvy player doing the hard work, making the runs to get the most out of Deuce...kind of a headscratcher.

Not really. Martins has missed a bunch of time the past two years through injury. Plus Seattle has Dempsey, Valdez, Morris, Jones, and Mansaray.

Valdez, Dempsey, Jones, and Morris are developing chemistry quite well in preseason.

Martins has far more left in the tank than Valdez. Morris, Jones and Mansaray are all unproven at this level. So who knows how they will do. Dempsey is the only proven commodity in this league. So unless Seattle brings someone in I wouldn't be so comfortable with just who they have now.

Those players you mention other than Dempsey have 16 league appearances(Valdez 7, Jones 9 and Morris 0 obviously) and 1 goal combined. Martins has a strike rate of more than .5 goals per match in his career, so just about ever other game he has a goal plus his ability to create goals.

Yes I know. Valdez wasn't played in his preferred striker role last season. Valdez is only a year older than Martins.

Quite frankly I am happy a spot has opened up for Morris who is the future. Seattle doesn't need strikers they need a better midfield. Now that Oba is moving on it opens the door to get a DP midfielder.

Wouldnt Jermaine Jones be the perfect fit for Seattle? Can see him picking out Morris or Dempsey. Helps Morris play with a top class midfielder. Jones wouldnt be needed to take on a leadership role with Dempsey already there.
