Zouma is out for 6 months, so it looks likely Miazga will get some minutes this season...my prediction is he will get the start against Stoke City March 5th. They have a midweek game against Norwich followed by Stoke followed by the second leg of the CL 2nd round against PSG.

yea there is no way their old defender play all 3 matches. I would think at least.

Daily Star and Chelsea's official twitter feed came out the other day and said:

#Chelsea are not expected to hand Matt Miazga his debut this season - despite Kurt Zouma suffering a serious knee injury. [Daily Star]

Sounds like he's strictly training at this point. I'd say this increases the likelihood he's released for Olympic qualifying.

Makes sense, but there may be more to this. There was a bit of a mini social media storm created by three of their youth defenders tweets when Miazga was bought...one of them has a first team squad number and his contract is up at the end of the season and is already being courted by other teams.

didnt expected him to play this season. But the word being used "expected". Not sure how things are going in camp for him but he could impress and could earn spot in bench so not impossible. Just not easy. Never say never.

From Sky Sports http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/...

"Hiddink also suggested that new signing Matt Miazga may be fast-tracked into first-team action following the injury to Zouma.

Miazga, who only recently signed from New York Red Bulls, is one of a number of options at centre-back which include Branislav Ivanovic and academy player Jake Clarke-Salter. "

So anything is possible

Conflicting stories. http://www.espnfc.us/chelsea/story/2805588/ma...

I do not know which one is Hiddink's most current feelings. I would love for Matt to get first team minutes but if Hiddink feels he is not ready I am sure he knows what is best for Matt.

That is the problem with the current MLS schedule. Any winter transfer is playing catch-up.

Just like their season...confusing messages. This is from the Chelsea web site... http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/201...

"Without Zouma, there is of course the well-established pair of John Terry and Gary Cahill available in central defence and once fully match-fit, Matt Miazga now moves up the pecking order according to Hiddink, who has also elevated Academy defender Jake Clarke-Salter into regular first-team training.

‘We also have make some variations with Ivanovic, Baba and Azpilicueta, we have some options,' the manager notes.

‘Physically, Miazga is okay. We will see what happens next week. He is a youngster but one who is coming into the national team of the USA which is not a small team. He has to get used to our way of playing which is a little faster but he adapts himself quickly, he is very professional and we don't have any doubts if he is needed.' "

Terry just went off with an injury. Didn't look TOO bad, but with the midweek trip to Paris, it's something to keep an eye on. Unless he's seriously injured, I don't see him not starting that match. But if it is serious, Matt might see the bench for an EPL match soon. Doubt he'll start, though. Hiddink would likely go with a Cahill/Ivanovich center half pairing.
