Good thing its a simple game, not like you've got to be Einstein to play it.

Agreed...less likely he will overthink situations and get caught in two minds.

Exactly. Some of the dumbest people have made excellent footballers. John Terry is known to be a real "bellend" as the brits would put it, and look at his career. Podolski was actively mocked in Germany for being dumb as dirt, yet he is third in German National team goals and second in caps.

just mentioning Miazga is on the Chelsea list for eligible Champions League players, though it would take a lot of injuries for him to actually play

Just 2. Or 1 injury and 1 suspension.

Took this from comments in MLS Soccer while reading about Holden's baby

Miazga is listed with their U-21s for whatever that is worth.

So is Zouma...it is just how the Premier League sets up their lists. He will probably get a few games with the U-21's once he is acclimated.

Just to be pedantic:

Premier League regulations

A squad can be up to a maximum of 25 players of whom a maximum of 17 may not be home-grown players. A reduced squad can be submitted if a club does not have eight falling into the home-grown category.

A home-grown player is one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

In addition to the 25-man named squad, clubs can use an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under.

An Under-21 player means a player under the age of 21 as at the 1st January in the year in which the season concerned commences. Under-21 players can be added to the squad during the season.

These rules cover league games only.

Kurt Zouma suffers horrible injury. Surely out could have Miazga be in squad day much early than we may have though

If he gets in the line-up because of Zouma's injury, great but I do not really have high expectations for Matt this season. If he gets in the first team squad, it would be great for him alone. I think having a full summer with the team and Terry being a season older will be his coming out party.

Hopefully, Terry can teach him not to use his hands as much as I see that as his biggest knock. He could either be another Onyewu or the sky is the limit. Onyewu had all the physical traits to be a damn good CB but he used his hands too much and his lateral movement was horrible. Plus he could not pass out the back very well. I see Miazga quite a bit ahead of Onyewu at this point in his career.

Tough to say what Zouma's injury means for Miazga this season. I dare say right now he is not match fit (but getting closer).

If Zouma is out for the rest of the year (as it looks), I believe he will see some first team minutes, though it will not be a clear cut as some would think.

If Terry or Cahill suffer an injury or suspension, then Hiddink may opt to use Ivanovic or Mikel as a CB if he does not think Matt is ready. There also is a possibility he could promote Ola Aina from the U-21 squad as he will be out of contract at the end of the season and there is a lot of interest in him. This is a fun clip of an Aina goal

At any rate, hope Miazga trains hard and picks thing up quickly.

Zouma is out for 6 months, so it looks likely Miazga will get some minutes this season...my prediction is he will get the start against Stoke City March 5th. They have a midweek game against Norwich followed by Stoke followed by the second leg of the CL 2nd round against PSG.

Chelsea's season has boiled down to champions league and FA Cup so it would stand to reason he will get the unimportant league games. This will serve a dual purpose as it will allow Chelsea to see him against English competition.
