There is a new youth team, the u-19s, which will be coached by Brad Friedel. They will play at the end of this month against Spain, France, and the Canary Islands. The tournament will be played in the home of my ancestors, Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands (Islas de Canarias, o las Canarias).

This is a great idea to me as there are so many players within the umbrella of the u20 pool. If we are to do better at the u20, this can only help to get more players looks on the field. I like the fact that Brad Friedel is being allowed to be the coach. Keepers do nothing but watch the game half the time, it surprises me this doesn't happen more often. Maybe he will undo that horrific Lancastrian accent he has acquired.

U19s won the Slovakia Cup over the weekend. It was a mostly Eastern European tourney. They beat teams like Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and had just one loss to Slovakia in the group stage.

Weston McKinnie, a FC Dallas academy guy was MVP and scored plenty of goals. Guys like De La Torre, barbir, Will Pulisic, Gallardo, Vazquez were some of the big names on the team.

Brad Friedel has several European coaching licenses. He stated that his goal was to coach in Europe some day. I think this is a good first step for him and a great choice for us.

The u19s are currently participating in the COTIF tourney in Spain. They've won 2 of 3 games including beating Spain last night. If they beat Bahrain on Monday they'll be in the semis. They are being led by fossey, Nelson, Vazquez, and again mckinnie.

These kids just seem to keep winning at these kind of tourneys. Mckinnie looks special and rumors are he's about to sign with schalke.

I watched the game. The refs were letting Spain get away with some very rough play. US was getting fouls called for the same plays. I guess you should expect that when you play the host nation. US won despite a clear bias vs the US team.

They have looked good at times. Vasquez looks to be a real #9 at striker. Strong, good in the air, good speed. Think there is some talent.

Im not talking about the incident late. I mean losing to a team that doesn't play the sport a team we should of beat by at least 3 goals. Is absolutely embarrassing losing to Bahrain at any level.

We can't go around saying everyone plays football, then say they don't.

You do realize that the Brazillians in the 80s were talking about how they learned moves from the Algerians, right?

The elastico didn't originate in Brazil.

Ok upon further reading, the original elastico was called the flip flap, but the one that we see Ronaldinho doing is by this guy

Dumb. The U19's won a tournament earlier this year in Europe. You need a grasp on reality.

I am sure you will be the first one to say Mexico is so much better at developement. You cannot develop without games, and a u19 team gives u20s more developement and the ability to find other kids not seen before. But keep telling us how much better Mexico is. A man who likes to hear himself talk.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
