TV rating for the final was not good.

.3 overnight rating.

MLS HQ needs to figure out a better day for their showcase game.

I recommend either Friday or Monday night.

4pm Sunday isn't a good choice, you're right. Not during NFL season. I wouldn't want to compete vs MNF either. Nothing happens Tuesday, Wed though.

The season needs to start earlier but the biggest problem this the god damn stadiums. The shit looked mickey mouse on TV. Im also beyond tired of all these stupid 20,000 seat renditions.

That sacramento rendering that came out was ridiculous. Sacramento is desert hot in the summer.

MLS needs to have stadiums with retractible roofs to they can play earlier in the cold.

Make the season February to August!

I would argue with the last 2 WCs with American coaches (Bruce and Bobby) we under achieved by not making it out of the group and losing a very winnable game vs Ghana. With Jurgs we definitely over achieved by getting out of that group. Not to mention we were a Wondo blunder away from beating a Belgium side with more talent on their next 11 squad than our first 11.

You can't only focus on Jurgs current form and not look at his entire tenure. Also. not sure your arguments comparing a sport to US presidents or the growth of our country is relevant.

Sports and countries are very similar thats why i compared, thats easy to see if you look.

I dont focus on shoulda woulda couldas. We didnt beat Belgium but we fought hard as a team. Klinsmann could have used Donovan instead of Wondo, we had multiple hamstring injuries, and we only won 1 game the whole tournament. Sure we made it out of the group, but we only beat Ghana to do it.

And Yes those were bad cups but the overall success of those teams is much higher than the success of Klinsmanns. We have no prolific achievements besides a gold cup and a win streak which mostly came from teams such as guatemala and panama

So the unbeaten streak and victories over top Euro countries and first win at Azteca don't count?

Uh, that would only be 6 months by my calculations. Make the season February through November. Take December and January off or March-December(entire December end right before New Years) and take Jan & Feb off.

I know the overall national tv ratings for the year was up, but pulling a .3 for your championship game isn't great. I also think that big names drive ratings. Neither c-bus nor Portland have big names.

Looking at LA V New England last year which had a .9 overnight rating on ESPN with a further 2 million viewers on the Spanish language networks; you can see that bigger names drive ratings: Donovan, Keane, Jones, Gonzo were all in that final last year. 3 out of the four were obviously recognizable USMNT players and Keane is fucking Keane.

You had one recent addition to the USMNT on the field in this final, and zero recognizable foreign player names.

Names drive ratings period,

I think the Final has to be in August. MLS Can't compete with NFL specially starting the game at the same time NFL games start. Also on Saturday there were College football conference championships so it would not of helped the ratings. I agree on a February to somewhere in august season. Also i think Portland should expand to 40-50K. They have over 80k season tickets on hold waiting to get their turn.

We all know the euro games were friendlies and they all started their b-c teams. And i also said most not all but you must have looked over that.

So. You can an end MLS final in September. It's the start of the season for NFL. Not as big as when it is almost towards the end of the season where teams are vying for playoff spots which gets bigger veiwership numbers.

'Only beat Ghana' id love most of their players for our squad.

We didn't beat Germany of Portugal? Wow, that's horrible when considering how dominant our players are.

Lost to Belgium... Because we all know Belgium should be beaten by teams such as the usmnt.

Yep. We all know the USMNT is on the same player level as a Germany or Belgium.

I was quite happy with their performance at the WC. But you always get those delusional fans/ media members.

The US was a miss hit shot away from ousting Belgium in regular time and a world class set piece away from tying them in overtime.

We all know Belgium was the better team. But the US still showed well against what is now the #1 team in the world.

We don't have any "prolific achievements"?!?! That's adms logic. Who the fuck has "prolific achievements" besides Brazil, Germany, and maybe a couple of other countries?
