That Coverby dude on here laughed in my face earlier when i brought up the idea of Caleb Porter for the National Team 2-3 months ago. The reason i used was that he has done a great job with almost nothing and has created something special. How does it feel now coverby?

Do you remember what happened last time Porter was involved in the NT setup?

Oh, so you're xenophobic. Got it.

Nah more like independent and with Jurgen you can see why i hate him. I dont want to be euro-american in style, i want to be 100% american and self-made like every other good footballing nation. We need to use the best resources WE have, we dont need europe took take us under our wing. If we did we would still be under the rule of the United Kingdom and 1776 would not exist.

This is all we need to see. Someone makes a valid point, and you say it's irrelevant. Sounds about right.

Do you know how much Caleb Porter has grown since then as a coach? Obviously not, so that is all i need to see. You are obviously proving to be US soccer illiterate by only caring about past mistakes and avoiding the accomplishments.

And also do you remember who was on that u23 team? If he was given the u23 team of today it would be a completely different story...

Let me also mention he coached Yedlin at Akron, and we all know where he is....

And again, im really starting to believe that the only reason you are arguing with me is because i called your boy out, if he said the sky was green and i said the sky was blue you would try to argue that the sky was green. Its obvious from the fact you keep referring to yourself as "we"

I think Porter is turning into a very quality pro coach. I would like to see him coach for a few more years at Portland before thinking of him as a USMNT head coach. He has a lot of upside. Remember Bruce Arena won 2 MLS cups with DC before becoming the USMNT coach. Bradley won an MLS cup and two US open cups before becoming the USMNT coach.

I would bet Porter will be heavily linked to the job when Klinsmann leaves after the 2018 WC. I also think other MLS coaches as well as some foreign coaches will be in the running.

Yep, you nailed it. Well done, kid.

I never said Porter shouldn't be in consideration for the job. If he can continue to show that he's a competent coach, he should absolutely have a shot at it. In 2018. YOU, on the other hand, believe that because he won ONE MLS CUP, Klinsmann should be fired immediately and Porter should take over.

It's all good, though. I know it's not coming from a soccer perspective, it's coming from a hatred-of-foreigners perspective, judging by what you said about Gary Smith. Xenophobia FTW!

Actually I believe he could be a better coach than Klinsmann for the USMNT right now, but you are putting words in my mouth by saying Klinsmann should be fired immediatley. It actually is coming from a soccer perspective because thats what we got, soccer, not football. This is proof that we dont need help from Europe to create our own brand of soccer. You on the other hand seem to have ties in Europe and would rather take the easy route and have us become a European-American team rather than just an American team. You seem to love Europe more than the United States.

Klinsmann is fine through 2018 as we will probably just be mediocre like usual, but i believe once we hire great american coaches we always do something extremely special. Things like get to the quarterfinals in the world cup or get to the finals in the Confederations. With foreign coaches we will continue to nothing more than mediocre

At one point the United States wasn't a world power, did we get a European president to make us one? No, we did it ourselves! It is the american way.

TV rating for the final was not good.

.3 overnight rating.

MLS HQ needs to figure out a better day for their showcase game.

I recommend either Friday or Monday night.

I would argue with the last 2 WCs with American coaches (Bruce and Bobby) we under achieved by not making it out of the group and losing a very winnable game vs Ghana. With Jurgs we definitely over achieved by getting out of that group. Not to mention we were a Wondo blunder away from beating a Belgium side with more talent on their next 11 squad than our first 11.

You can't only focus on Jurgs current form and not look at his entire tenure. Also. not sure your arguments comparing a sport to US presidents or the growth of our country is relevant.
