I mean obviously. We all want this. But no matter what team, or whoever the coach is, you don't just all at once dump the veterans and bring in new guys. You have to have that experience and leadership. Which is why I get so frustrated reading posts on here. People want to see starting XI's with 7 or 8 guys with little to no senior team caps. That's just foolish. You have to keep veterans around and in the starting XI to provide stability and leadership.

oh 1000% agree but this is what he should have been doing in 2014-2015 after the world cup you know when there nothing to play for. Should have tested that "new" team in gold cup. Shouldve been that team to play against Mexico w.e the result was it wouldnt be this doom and gloom. Instead he kept everyone and started essentially the same line up in the world cup against Mexico. No one knows whether a player like Finlay, Feilhaber or Nguyen, kitchen, trapp etc since we never gave them a run a games. Not just a 20 min appearance. Now he has a chance to try Nagbe again not sure if they will turn up but its something to work towards.

Nope. No time, now. Time to bring in new guys. Of course Bradley, Jones, Cameron, Dempsey, Altidore will still get call ups, but it's time now to get young guys in.

Looking at guys like:

Miazga
Trapp
Pelosi
Morris
Keisewetter
Rubin
Nagbe
Lletget
Alashe

These guys can help the USMNT now.

@GrantWahl: Asked Gulati if Klinsmann has his support. "We'll sit down & talk in the next few days. But we always do that after games." No more comment.

if only we believed Gulati had the stones to do the right thing.

or, for that matter, if only JK had the class/integrity (to resign)

and yet he still didnt start.
This the kind of players we have to build around. Runs, constant movement, put constant pressure on opponents.

if we want to play pro active football we needs players with constant movement that arent afraid to 1v1 player s

Just watched the game. I thought Cameron did well. I have him locked in as our starting RCB from now on.

Other than Cameron, Bradley is a lock somewhere in the midfield and then we have the 9 other positions up for grabs. That's a problem.

Wood did well coming on in the second half.

Williams was by far the biggest disappointment. This was his chance to show that he was going to be the answer and he had a nightmare of a game. The door is wide open for Kitchen but he probably won't get called up before Camp Cupcake.

Ream can be a Bocanegra style LB against certain teams but as we saw against Brazil talented teams with speed will kill him.

I've said this in other threads but I think we made a huge mistake calling in our vets to Camp Cupcake this year. That was the one avenue to really throw caution to the wind and whip together a hodge podge lineup. Sure the collective result isn't likely to be the most beautiful but you get an opportunity to look at a lot of fringe players for their individual potential all in one go. Camp Cupcake is really the only chance in the calendar year that we can afford to take that kind of risk.

How many vets do you really need in the room? Both our goalies will be there, Cameron is quality for our D, MB and Bedoya are quality for our midfield, and Jozy upfront.

skangles - I personally think it should have been after World cup. That September when the excuse of "theres a world cup hungover" came about we should have used new players and etc etc forget the result at that moment.

2tone- yes i mean look at south american teams and even mexico. They put pressure, constant pressure and try to force and error. They dont just wait for the ball to come to them theres always constant moving. A player like Jozy doesnt do that. That doesnt take technical skill it needs good team stamina (something i thought americans had), good team understanding of where to be etc etc. Things a good coach can get out of any team.

Very Good list I also think perry kitchen and ethan finlay could also prove valuable since they would fill potential needs cdm and winger. Plus I really do think Alfredo Morales should get a shot plays week in week out in the bundesliga hasnt gotten 2 many chances to show what he can bring to the table for the USMNT.
