Yedlin will be a RB eventually and that's where he will excel most, the same with Fabian i think he will eventually be a full time LB.

another week another bench ride for Yedlin... so still no prem play in almost a year even after a good showing in cup play

I too think he's a RB but could he turn into Gareth Bale?! He was late bloomer who started career at LB, moved to LW and then CF...

Haha, I'm being silly here. Most of the time attacking players get moved back, rarely do we see defenders moved up but it does happen here and there and typically it only happens to elite speed players which Yedlin is.

Regardless of all that, I have been very pleased to see his crossing has greatly improved... I really don't get why he's not playing RB for the Nats all the time...

Jones had a shocker from what I was seeing...probably won't be getting the start next week.

Jones has been pretty terrible this whole year Yedlin had a decent start in the cup game against a pretty strong man city squad. It wouldnt suprise me if he starts this weekend if not and sunderland loses again I think we could see Yedlin just playing under a different coach Sunderland is 20th and in the next month or so we could see a new coach if Sunderland is rooted to the bottom.

Geez, how do Americans always pick places to go where there is so much uncertainty...

In this case it wasn't Yedlin making the choice.... Spur's elected to send him to Sunderland in hopes he'd get more 1st team minutes there than he would with them.

Unfortuantely the way most of this works is by pedigree

none of our players have it, sans Green Pulisic etc guys in the younger academies who have been "touted".

that allows a player to decide where he wants to go, where he wants to play, until of course, they take a chance on said player and he doesn't pan out and then he gets panned by networks of scouts, managers and fellow players

Our guys win alot of respect, but there is this constant perception that our player is inferior technically, the base of a player, his personal technique

that is sometimes harsh, and then sometimes accurate more guys we get out there that make GM's "fall in love with" the better his options are, look at the differences between Eddie Johnson and Altidore, Eddie fails 1nce,

And then there is Freddy Adu, a guy who people rated highly (Ferguson etc) and people gave passes on unfavorable assessments

It's kinda like the job world too, a guy coming out of Harvard wil lhave better chances of struggling and perservering than a guy out of Worcester Community College

Or, fortunately, for those of us with pedigree. . .

I know =(

that came off rather prickish

A heartfelt my bad

It's not a "way it should be" type comment
but more of a "way it is"

Dempsey played balls out, and he was still marginalized first by HIS OWN TEAM, then after moving over to Tottenham...

To be fair Lamela has gotten somewhat the same treatment, the only difference is Lamela is MUCH younger.... he's got that WC winning nation tag on him

Yedlin should have been fast tracked much earlier but he wasn't

i sometimes think its more of a US thing that we love hustle and speed rather than smarts and touch we over look the little player, where is our messi? we have so many people here of so many diverse cultures and they all play ball! i dont get it why are we not developing better players like we do at pig skin at baseball and at basketball?

maybe we need to go into the inner city schools and offer them further instruction? i dont know im ranting
FAK!

No, I think it's a good comment about pedigree. Just giving you some $hit. Yes, Yedlin does not have pedigree and honestly it shows in his (lack of) technique. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of his. He's explosive and his skill level has improved over the last few years. But he still doesn't have much in terms of basic skill.

Deuce ain't got no pedigree either, but he's always had pretty good skills on the ball. I guess you could say he does have some pedigree now after Fulham & Tottenham, but he didn't when he was 24.

we need those inner city kids to play ball not just the well off ones that can afford to play club ball there should be a soccer field in every park like there is a basketball court...i also think it has something to do with the media not promoting soccer like they do football and baseball because there isnt any commercial breaks every 10 minutes, i think we have the most kids playing soccer in the world but somewhere along the line those kids just stop or start playing other sports ? i just want to get passed the round of 16 damit
