A healthy and in form backline of Jones - Marshall - Torres - Evans is scary. There's no weak link there.

Back from a mini vacation work can only be so much fun lol. Anyways Seattle is in preseason form I wouldnt give up on their defense this early. I think its a joke that mls doesnt start earlier. They could easily do february by staggering the schedule to favor warmer teams first couple games then rest of year stagger it to favor those teams that gave up february home games due to weather. Plus by starting earlier then mls can avoid having as many games in the summer win win situation if you ask me.

Well looks like Seattle and DC are pretty much out. I predict DC wins 2-1 but will be out on aggregate and Seattle loses 4-2. But hope im wrong and both make it.

After 10 years of supporting the league, my frustration has peaked. It's the same story every f**kin year !!! Unless we win the CCL this year, I'm not watching MLS regular season, not buying the MLS direct kick, not going to any MLS games, and I won't be commenting anymore !

MLS needs to raise the DP level to 5 or they will never win CCL or wont be able to compete with Chinese Super League.

WTF DC United was mostly composed of journeyman MLS players along with old MLS players. Then you got that matchbox sized stadium proposal which wont do SHIT to help the league!

Seattle cmon ??? DP the FUCK UP! GANSO as DP midfielder with Frieburg as the sub is what you want. NOT those 2 fools they brought in as subs! What a joke!

The only positive thing I will say on this last post is Morris looks to be an exciting player and look forward to him on the USMNT

Trump 2016 !!!

Oh not at all. Blaise has pledged his love multiple times to that racist, sexist, xenophobic demagogue.

While I think there is some validity in the essence of Blaise's statement that MLS needs to continue improving the caliber of players that it brings in, I would argue that even that might not be the solution. DC United looked even from a competitive stand point when it was starting XI v starting XI.

The real difference maker was the fact that one club was in preseason and the other was in midseason. Nothing will really change until this is addressed. We see the European clubs come here and lose sometimes for the same reason during the summer months.

i agree. I dont think the issue is the DPs, or salary cap, or "depth of rosters" anymore (I think that was the issue from about 2005 until 2013). With the added cap, added allocation money, and new youth set up at the good clubs (LAG 2 & Seattle 2 are prime examples) the teams arent that off in the depth department.

Also by these knockout stages the MLS teams are using their top XI so barring injury any depth issues is minimized.

Its just real hard to beat a team thats been fighting week in and week out for 6-7 weeks when your guys have been goofing off and taking it easy through preseason and vacations.

If I were in CONCACAF Id have the CCL start about now with the group stages and make knockout rounds in the summer through fall for a few reasons.

1) Gives the Carribean Islands some chances over MLS teams since MLS teams in preseason. The Carribean teams no they arent winning. At least they might win some early round games and every now and then make a knockout round.

2) Knockout rounds are fair fights. If they start 1st week of september MX will be back in their season for about 5 weeks.

3) CONCACAF could win World Cup. The way it is today whoever wins the CCL in the next few months has to wait until december for the Club World Cup. The team is usually very different by then. Ending in November will make whomever wins the CCL have essentially that team at the club world cup, that should increase the chances for the MLS/MX team.

what i learned from my excellent seat at century link last night:

there was only one player on the field who deserves to be mentioned in conversation about major mins for USMNT this summer... and his name is NOT jordan morris

sorry to douse you all with reality, but for the love of god, can we please agree that anyone playing in MLS needs to PROVE himself as one of the best in the league before we nominate him for a prime spot on MNT?

sadly, i suppose not

Copa America:

------dempsey---wood-------

prediction re dempsey/sounders:

- playing wide in 4-3-3 on that turf will absolutely run deuce into the ground by the end of the season. either that or dempsey just does not get back on D and sounders get shredded on left side defensively. saw some people giving crap to joevin jones... thought he did well given that he had very little support on that side most of the night

other than that? fun game!

I'm sure they will play in a Dome stadium the first month or so. Kinda like Montreal does.
