I don't see Tottenham playing him as a starter any year soon. I think his best bet is to do well at Sunderland, they stay up and him transferring to them permanently.

Meh. I don't think that will happen regardless. More likely he gets loaned to another team next year, or he competes and wins out against other players at Tottenham.

Well there's seb Larson, jordi Gomez, jeremain lens, ola toivonen, and Fabio borini. Arguments could be made for certain of their second strikers to go two up top.

I agree Gooch needs to play with the adults and he is ready to, but the jump to the Prem is a bit much. I mean Tim ream was Boltons player of the year two years running and he's still in the championship. Gooch has proven nothing in the reserves except he's better than the other kids. He needs playing time with pros to confirm his ability.

Plus central attacking mids are not the fashionable thing for Sunderland. They cannot afford a defensive liability. Not to say they cannot tweak Gooch's game a little bit. But Sunderland at this point are another hard-working club. They are going to scrap and claw for 90 minutes. I don't know how he would fit into that team. I am sure if they preferred CAM, they would have more on the team. None of those players are CAM, they have CMs and wingers but no #10 type player. More like two
#8s.

It might be beneficial for Gooch if Sunderland get relegated. They will have to sell off players/ loan out players and it will give him an opportunity to play in the Championship. If he makes it happen there then he can make moves.

I think Gooch is a special talent. Give him minutes and see what happens. You guys act like I am saying he should be starting. All I am saying is bring him up and give him minutes off of the bench.

The only way to see if a young player can play with the big boys is to give him minutes with the first team.

When advoocatt gave him minutes earlier this year the fans were chanting his name. The energy had risen, and he was unlucky not to get a goal.

Bring him on as an instant energy boost. That's what a certain Argentine named Messi did with Barcelona for awhile. And Messi's Barcelona reserve team stats weren't great before getting called up to the first team. I am not trying to compare Gooch to Messi only. All I am saying is you have to give talented young players a chance, and it's clear Gooch is talented.

I just recall the past 3 years where Lletget got no chance to play under allardyce. I see what you're saying, and the kid is talented. Just a difficult situation to come on for a team facing relegation.

Should be a good opportunity for him to show what he can do.

Curious that Gooch wasnt called to u23 or that u20 world cup. Needs to be looked at, seems highly rated at sunderland.

Wow. So awesome. No one really had word about his preseason with Sunderland. Looks like he has impressed. And quite frankly the USMNT needs wide attacking players.

Another talented player who was snubbed by Tab Ramos for a U20 WC team. Ramos was adamant Gooch was a CM, and only played him at CM during that 2015 cycle, even though Gooch has only played either as a second FWD or as an outiside FWD/ winger with Sunderlands youth teams. I still think Tamos isn't a great talent evaluator.
