Never know, perhaps not calling him is why he's in the form he's in right now.

It's amazing what added pressure can do for someone in all ways of life.

Maybe Herzog has him penciled in for the final squad already and decided to leave him with his club team because he knew that LG is starting to get minutes...maybe...

If he continues on this trajectory and isn't included soon, we might need to start rethinking our evaluation system(s).

The prelim roster for the U23's has already been submitted. If Gooch isn't on that prelim roster then he won't be able to called up for the u23 qualifying tournament. I would hazard to guess he isn't on it considering it was submitted prior to the recent camp in England.

That's for qualifying though, I'm referring to the final squad actually going to the Olympics...unless there's some rule about not allowing anyone in the tourney that wasn't in the prelim/qualifying roster...

Andy is probably using the qualifiers to solidify his final roster so we may only end up seeing 3/4-1/2 of that camp included. Just a guess though, not sure if he would actually do that...but if we do end up seeing LG in the Olympics then this is the only rationale I could see why he wasn't included in the England camp.

Gooch continues with his strong form for Sunderlands u21 team with a two goal and an assist performance in a 6-1 destruction of Leicester City u21's.

Sunderland sits a top of their division of the u21 premier league in first place.

Allardyce needs to bring him up to the first team.

He has been playing as the CAM in a 4-2-3-1. He is a modern day CAM that scores and attacks at will. He has 5 goals and three assist on the season thus far. Would like to see him paired with Jordan Morris for the US U-23's. Hecan also play as a wide attacking midfielder as well.

If we don't bring in an over age player for ACM with the U23s, I'd love to see Gooch there...it would be great to have his heavy shot and attacking ability at the top of the box...much better option in my mind than Gil.

Sunderland have more experienced and proven players than Gooch to play that role, however much we want him to play. He's a different case than Yedlin. Maybe later on in the season if Sunderland can get out of danger and there is less pressure.

Much rather see him get a loan to league one or the championship first.

Well he can play a number of attacking roles. And who exactly is a current CAM for Sunderland? And how well are those older players performing?

I think he can get some very meaningful sub minutes this season.

Yeah there is really no creative attacking midfielder with Sunderland right now. They have a lot of guys with BPL experience as CM but no one that can unlock a defense in a instance. Haven't really seen Gooch play but from what I hear, he sounds like a different player than what Sunderland currently has on their first team. And they need any help they can get at this point, if not from the reserve side, they must get rid of dead weight and try to buy, buy, buy this coming window. They are too big a club to go down. And we need Yedlin playing top division football, whether it be England or elsewhere. He needs to continues to test himself against the best.

Yedlin is on loan, so it really won't effect Yedlin next season if Sunderland get relegated.

I don't see Tottenham playing him as a starter any year soon. I think his best bet is to do well at Sunderland, they stay up and him transferring to them permanently.
