Well you Anti-Chandler guys must be happy as he will probably go on national team hiatus if this is what it is said to be.

Well I'm definitely not anti-Chandler but he has shown time and time again he is a bench player at best. Struggles time and time again but his poor positioning and mental lapses.

I hope the best for Chandler and would love for him to improve but I will not be shedding a tear over his imminent hiatus.

So why isn't he saying the same thing about Zambrano?

It doesn't change my mind in the slightest.

Exactly. He's upset cause a German dude picked USA. And he never had the opportunity to play International football.

Because he was back when everyone else was, last Monday, not today.

Germany didn't want him, why would he be upset over that? You guys are tripping.

So does that say more about the USMNT or about Chandlers overall commitment and drive for soccer? Was the extra weeks rest a requirement?

It wasn't a requirement, it never is. Some players go straight from international games/tourneys to preseason training.....some because they don't want to get behind or some to get a step up on competition. Chandler decided to take close to two weeks vacation. That's what the manager is saying. Not only that, his fitness testing didn't score high like the others coming in from international play......I think this is more of an indictment on Chandler than the USMNT.

Yeah, I think you guys are over-reacting a bit. It's slightly dickish but I can see the club coach's point of view.
Any of that national team duty stuff should be discussed at contract time.

And I can't help but think back to Chandler taking a bit of a hiatus from the USMNT. I'm sure it's a tough thing to manage as a player. I never fault someone pulling a Tim Howard/Landon Donovan/etc. To each his own. Life doesn't have to be 100% your job 100% of the time.

Chandler rejects it and said he'll continue to play for the USMNT.

Sorry for the Chandler haters.

What a douchebag of a head coach. I gaurantee he isn't saying that to other internationals on the team. I have been saying it for awhile: Europeans do not want the Americans beating them at their perceived "game."

Don't be ridiculous. Soccer is an international sport played on every continent. There is no prejudice towards non-Europeans (certainly not in the 21st century), and Americans are the only fans ethnocentric enough to think that the rest of the world is in some sort of conspiracy against them. Managers are paid millions and under extreme amounts of pressure to get results. There's simply no room for racial/nationalistic prejudices, not to mention the fact that Americans come with the added benefit of shirt sales.

And even if there was some sort of prejudice against American players (there isn't), Chandler would not be perceived as American by any European coach. He spent his entire life in German, do you honestly think a European manager would rate him lower simply because he happens to hold an American passport?

Might be a dick move by Chandler's coach but I sympathize. You have to show up on time for training...there are no excuses. All of the other players did.

America has the best athletes on the planet.. That's why we are #1 in Gold medals/overall by a massive amount... The only one sport we haven't concord yet is Soccer. So the rest of world specially Europe will do anything in their power so we don't succeed on whats the only thing they pretty much have. If we become one day more superior in soccer than them they will have nothing to Brag about that's the last card they have... Europe/South America are good in soccer the #1 Sport and USA is not yet but don't worry we will one day surpass them hope i'm alive to see it happen because i think that day will be sooner than later. The day we win a WC all hell will break loose.

We haven't conquered cricket or rugby yet, either, the second and third most popular sports on the planet.

There's no way that you write this stuff seriously. I can't believe that you're not a troll, especially considering how well you do in the MLS predictions league. You're probably laughing your ass off at all of us for biting every time.
