Okay yesterday everyone was bitching because Wood wasn't included in GC. Now Rain thinks Sapong should be starting. Few even mention Gyau. Tomorrow you all will have Freddie Adu as starting Mid!

Gunner I was right there with you on your first post but then I saw your list of players later and I had to jump ship with some of your list!

I don't know WHO will be there but I have my DON'T WANT list because they haven't done well IMO

Chandler - watches too much and doesn't see trailers. Zusi had to cover for him too often
Zusi - Good player just not good enough anymore for international level
Gonzo - I know every loves him but he makes too many dumb mistakes to out weigh the good.
KB - If playing against European style he holds his own most the time but speed teams he can't hang. Plus plays two negative!
kljestan, nguyen - good pros bad international
altidore - He needs a lot of work IMO. I'm not saying he should go for good but not selected until he gets back to where he was.

That isn't MY list as to who I want ON there. Just what I think JK thinks is the #1 choice team (if all are healthy and in-form).

I'm not fan of Chandler (particularly lately), but we really don't have much of another option if we want to play attacking football. My ideal starting XI would be:

GK-Howard
LB-Johnson
CB-Brooks
CB-Besler
RB-Shea
LM-Gyau (I really like him, and if he is on form he is better than Zardes or any other option)
DM-Williams
RM-Bedoya
CM-Bradley
FW-Altidore
FW-Morris

As far as Altidore goes, we really don't have a better option. Even Altidore now when he is out of form still showed as good as ArJo, Zardes, Wondo, Gordon, etc up top.

I'd say Fabian RB and Shea LB

After the failure during the Gold Cup it is time for the USMNT to move forward without certain players:
Wondo: Old, Slow, and a waste of a roster spot at this point.
Beckerman: Thanks for the efforts in 2014, but is to slow & old moving forward. Needs to be replaced.
Rimando: To Old and we have better options at GK to mentor the next generation.
Davis: Has never been good enough for international play.
Zusi: Thank you for your services but it's time to add speed to the wings.

Jones & Dempsey need to be moved to supporting roles (super subs). If JK is intent on using Bradley as an ACM, than Dempsey needs to be a sub as they tend to occupy the same spaces on the field.

The following players need to be brought back into the fold to be re-evaluated.
Lichaj: We need an option at Outside Back to push Yedlin & Chandler.
Bunbury: We need players who can work outside in as a winger.
Feilhaber: We need an ACM type CM and move Bradley back to either a CDM or a Box-to-Box type midfielder.
Nguyen: See Feilhaber

The 5-3-2 formation needs to be explored again.
--Jozy/Zardes/Agudelo--Johannsson/Wood/Morris--
---Feilhaber----Bradley----
------Williams------
-Fabian---------Yedlin--
---Besler/Books-Brooks/Gonzalez-Alvarado---
------Guzan-------

Subs: Shea, Lichaj, Chandler, Diskerud, Bunbury, Cameron, Jones, Dempsey

I like that, especially the counter styles for FWDs

I mean, besides the lineup, here's your biggest mistake: This is your 2018 WC lineup. Which means we qualified for the World Cup. Which means Jurgen would still have his job. So as soon as I saw Arena as your coach, I stopped caring.

Exactly...and if we are assuming qualification, the roster will contain players specific to the opponents. Yes, JK is capable of creating tactics.

I like the fact that Miazga and CCV have been paired together in U-20 and now U-23.

Everyone is clamoring for a CAM...I'll put forward the name Kyle Scott. Still young now, but he is playing in the UEFA U-19 Champions League. I suspect he will be given a chance so we can cap tie him.

No, the correct answer was 17 year old Sacha K.

Sure, why not...he'll be 19 or 20 in 2018 while Sacha will be 33. I know who has the better shot of making the squad.

Mojo

please take note of OTHER PEOPLE constantly turning conversations towards sacha k.

this time its because i mentioned SK, among SEVERAL OTHER US PROFESSIONALS as option in MF (instead of kyle scott)...

i rest my case

dunlopp - i feel you - a lot of people have stopped caring. dont worry JK wont be the coach forever. hang in there buddy

Okay, I'll go with Pulisic for 2018 WC...basically the same age as LD was at the 2002 WC.

people need to keep in mind that LD won the golden ball at U17 world championships in 99. he was THE best player

there is an expectation that each generation will produce an LD but that, obviously, is just not the case.

its natural for fans to constantly be looking for the next great player but 99 times out of 100 the best guys wont actually break through till they are 21, 22, 23... and they are often not the guys you would predict at 16, 17, 18

the other big factor with regard to LD was his decision to ditch trying to work his way up through the leverkusen system to actually play adult soccer in MLS.

playing for a club's youth set-up will not qualify guys for full MNT duty and unfortunately having a teenager break through to first-team squad at one of these big euro clubs is just not going to happen any time soon
