not only was the gold cup a complete disaster but US now has zero chance of a seed in 2018, a much bigger objective than CONFED

make no mistake, losing to jamaica and then on PKs to panama were just 2 poor results/performances in a whole tournament of lousy soccer from US. hard to imagine so many people are willing to brush this off and keep faith in JK

brief rundown of JKs recent failures

- why continue to move forward with what is basically a standard 4-4-2 when you dont really have two good wide mids to rub together. zardes is a decent CONCACAF level forward but he is not an int. level MF. JK continues to play guys out of position - trying to fit square pegs in round holes... and failing to get the most out of the talent at his disposal

- EVERYONE saw after first game or two that brooks/alvarado was not ready for prime-time. EVERYONE. when there are trophies on the line you dont play for the future. there is plenty of time between now and 2018 to get those two reps if they turn out to be best combo

- where is eric lichaj? brad evans? seriously?

- kyle beckerman and mix diskerud are the 2 most over-rated players in this program. told everyone who would listen that beckerman needed to put out to pasture after brazil. people hanging on to the idea that KB is still really good but just not a good option v jamaica are just delusional. if you are not good enough to play v jamaica YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. PERIOD. end of story

JK is a master of wasting our time with his selections and diskerud is exhibit A. he started almost EVERY GAME between brazil and gold cup. i told everyone it was a waste of time because a mix/bradley CM combo is NEVER going to be a reasonable option. seems JK ultimately has realized that mix has (very) limited value but the point is that other guys who could be good options have been snubbed - williams, morales, kitchen... feilhaber, kljestan, nguyen

time for people let go of their pride and take their medicine so we can have an honest conversation moving forward

until other guys EARN their way into this group these need to the 33 top guys moving forward, with very little exception:

3-5-2

GK: guzan, hamid, howard
CD: alvarado, besler, brooks, cameron, gonzo, ream
WB: bedoya, chandler, finlay, garza, johnson, lichaj, yedlin
CM: bradley, *jones*, kitchen, morales, williams
AM: feilhaber, kljestan, nguyen, rowe
F: agudelo, altidore, boyd, dempsey, johannsson, rubin, sapong, zardes

*only for Oct. 9

oct. 9

---dempsey--sapong---
-----feilhaber-----
----bradley-jones----
johnson--------bedoya
---ream-brooks-cameron--

Agree with everything except for the Diskerud hate! I went ape shit on his goal vs Orlando.

I'll throw out my never gonna happen XI and continued hate for the DM role

October 9

---- Johannsson - Boyd ----

Fabian -- Feilhaber - Nguyen - Nagbe

Torres - Brooks - Gonzalez - Yedlin

---

I've always favored players who have the 1 vs 1 technical ability.

Would like to see if we can get Bjorn Johnsen, Sayef, Ashon Gotz, Parker bros, Toljan into the september camp.

Nagbe is a toss up because though because he doesn't score a lot of goals.

Dempsey is a sub for me. His flow slows down the game. Bradley should'nt be an automatic starter, especially against a quick technical team like Mexico.

With the possible inclusion of Nagbe, how do you guys feel about Bedoya in the center?

I have seen Nagbe in the Mid roaming free and i loved it but if he can do more on the wing, use him there. I do hate that he rarely uses his left. And i think that's what Bedoya usually plays in Nantes right?

Felihaber, Klejstan, Nguyen and Rowe as our AM. HAHA, and you are getting on JK.

You must want us to lose.

Also Mix has been better than Morales in the USMNT jersey. Just has, no way around that. Morales has been very sub-par for the USMNT.

Mexico destroys us with either Rain or Blaise's lineup. LOL.

Like all of you ideas, Rain. KB was giving me visions of Rico Clark out there. He has to be done.

But what does Sapong do that we havent already seen in our striker pool? And are you going to strut him out there on OCT 9?! WHen did he last suit up for us?

And Gunner, when did Mexico become this machine that destroys us? Does one Guardado volley really scare you so much?

coming up that was his best position. I'd like to see Bradley and Bedoya in the middle with Bedoya farther forward. He has the legs to do the closing down of Bradley- wouldn't be much of a change in system or formation.

Rain is the only qualified hater. Very consistent and on message whether we want to hear it or not. The rest all jump on the bandwagon win or lose. I don't agree with Rain but his points are clear and consistent, and "fact-based". His facts but this is an opinion site.

I think you missed my point...I'm not scared of Mexico, if we start our A or B team we can win and should win.

My point was those line-ups they posted.

Youre right, Gunner. Those lineups are not stellar. But that being said, Mexico is playing about as well as we are night now. The playoff in October may be a battle of futility in which the winning side is the one who makes the fewer mistakes.

I'm surprised how little flack Johansson is getting on these boards... he's supposed to be this great forward and finisher and granted he did find himself in some good spots but how many bad touches and poor finishes did he have this cup? Very disappointing performance from him.

This was really his chance to take the position but he just reinforced how few options there are and that Altidore needs to get his act together so he can be up there.

Also, this one one of JK's many failings with the player pool, how he had no Boyd or Agudelo is crazy. Even Davies, Sapong, Bunbury would have at least been a different option up top and many of those guys are also getting time out wide.

I have brought up ArJo a few times. Agree. But Boyd and Agudelo have looked no different than ArJo for the USMNT. They aren't any better.
Our best option (like it or not) up top is Altidore when he is in form (clearly wasn't this tournament).

If Morris, Shea, Gyau, and Jones are back I think our roster will look like this (provided no other injuries):

GK-Howard, Guzan, Yarbrough
LB/RB - Chandler, Johnson, Beasley, Shea
CB - Alvarado, Brooks, Gonzalez, Besler (I think he starts getting brought back in)
CM - Bradley, Jones, Williams, Beckerman (think this is the end for him)
LM/RM - Gyau, Yedlin, Zardes, Bedoya
FW - Dempsey, Altidore, Johannson, Morris

Okay yesterday everyone was bitching because Wood wasn't included in GC. Now Rain thinks Sapong should be starting. Few even mention Gyau. Tomorrow you all will have Freddie Adu as starting Mid!

Gunner I was right there with you on your first post but then I saw your list of players later and I had to jump ship with some of your list!

I don't know WHO will be there but I have my DON'T WANT list because they haven't done well IMO

Chandler - watches too much and doesn't see trailers. Zusi had to cover for him too often
Zusi - Good player just not good enough anymore for international level
Gonzo - I know every loves him but he makes too many dumb mistakes to out weigh the good.
KB - If playing against European style he holds his own most the time but speed teams he can't hang. Plus plays two negative!
kljestan, nguyen - good pros bad international
altidore - He needs a lot of work IMO. I'm not saying he should go for good but not selected until he gets back to where he was.

My thoughts too. I know he played there before Nantes. Not sure how long its been since hes played in the middle though.
