PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be a LEFT BACK.

That is the one dark hole abyss position we have...

We have lots of young options at CB (3+ Studs under 23), we have Yedlin at RB, we have a host of DM options, we have quite a few Wing, AM, and CM types, and we have a few forwards. We have 3 really good potential GKs.

NO LEFT BACK to really speak of. Please let Olosunde be a Left Back. Our best prospect at LB is either Acosta or Payne. Payne is more naturally a RB and Acosta plays DM for Club.

John Nelson is good. Probably the Best player on the field with the U20's recently at the Dallas Cup.

I believe Man United so more potential for him at CB. Which I do as well. He is like 6'2".

Has Nelson been linked to any Euro clubs yet? Is he waiting to join Columbus as a HG guy? Looking at colleges? I dont know much about him but young LB prospects have historically been our 2nd hardest position to find (behind actual CAMs)

Tell me the young DM option that you feel crazy about.

I feel crazy about none of them.

I don't feel crazy about any of them. Never said that. Just said we have a host of them. Realistically I'd rather have 10 so-so prospects that could make it big, than 1-2 REALLY good prospects.

The odds are still better that one of the 10 actually becomes a very good USMNT player.

Acosta, Trapp, Kitchen, Alashe, Morales, Polster, Pelosi, Delgado, etc are all good prospects. Although none of them stand out like a Pulisic. But I'd say there is a good chance that by 2022 one of them has stepped up and been a very solid member of the US side that helps us win.

oh i'm sorry, I did misrepresent what you said.

But you have to admit, this kids skill level is phenomenal.

Attributes you would love in a midfielder.

We have CB's we're excited about right?

Man U and NAC Breda have signed a deal together. This will allow Man U to load out young players to Breda. Looks like a clear path opened up for Matt O, maybe not this fall but fall of 2017 at the latest

**My mistake. Its Man City that formed the partnership. Reading headlines too quickly

absolutely, but that's why I hope he is a LB, not a CB or a MF. We need LB the most.

While I'm not "Crazy About" them. there are a number of good young DM/CM prospects in the US youth teams....
Luca De La Torre - 18 - Fulham
Fernando Arce - 19 - Tijuana
Kellyn Acosta - 20 - FC Dallas
Marky Delgado - 21 - Toronto
Russell Canouse - 21 - Hoffenheim
Caleb Stanko - 22 - Feriburg
Fatai Alshe - 22 - Earthquakes

These kids have a couple years before they'll really be needed at the senior national team level, so there is still time for them to develop into that pivotal star DM player.
Point being there are quality prospects in the pipeline, we just need to give them time to mature.

On top of those guys theres always the possibility of Zelalam or Hyndman with any of the guys you have listed as the 2 CDMs/box-box types behind a true attacking mid. I could see a midfield triangle with Hyndman/Zelalam/Pulisic working if we had strong CBs. Hyndman and Pulisic especially seem to have no issues tracking back. I would be as Hyndman ages he follows a similar career path to Bradley where once he gets to be 26-28 we start wondering if he can fill that CDM role to let a younger guy be the engine up front.

forgot about De La Torre, he seemed like a sturdier Hyndman... or was that someone else I'm thinking about..

There is a real possibility that by the time the 2022 WC roles around we could have the strongest Defensive unit in our history.
GK - Horvath (27 - Molde), Steffen (27 - Freiburg), Horton (27 - DC United)
RB - Yedlin (29 - Tottenham), Payne (26 - FC Groninge), Olosunde (24 - Man U)
CB - Brooks (29 - Hertha), Miazga (27 - Chelsea), Carter-Vickers (24 - Tottenham), Palmer-Brown (25 - Porto), Barbir (24 - West Brom),
LB - Acosta (27 - FC Dallas), Requejo (26 - Tijuana), Olosunde (24 - Man U)

We are still fairly thin at the outside backs, but there are always players that seem to crop up out of nowhere. Regardless this has the makings of a very impressive back line that can hold it's own, freeing us up to have more attack minded midfielders.

CM - Hyndman (26 - Fulham), Zelalem (25 - Arsenal), Canouse (27 - Hoffenheim), Arce (25 - Tijuana), Pulisic (23 - BVB), Scott (24 - Chelsea)
Attackers: Perez (24 - Fiorentina), Lennon (24 - Liverpool), Wright (24 - Schalke), Morris (27 - Sounders), Green (27 - Bayern), Kiessewetter (29 - Stuttgart)

IF these players continue to develop and are deployed in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 this group of players will be very entertaining and difficult to beat. A very technical squad that can possess the ball, has speed and should have a good amount of experience....but can still grind an opponent down if necessary.

Looking forward to the future of this team....

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
