Well, hopefully that first half showed us that a Brooks/Alvarado pairing is the way to go. Omar with one too many mistakes, per usual.

Chandler is garbage. Zusi, your time has passed.

Am I the only one who didn't think it was an awful PK? Sure, it wasn't great. But calm down with the rhetoric, guys. It looked to be headed for the corner, the keeper just guessed the right way.

There's a difference between thinking a penalty is awful (and it wasn't Chris Armas bad, for sure) and thinking it's good enough from your chosen PK taker.

I think Dempsey is the PK taker during the Gold Cup. That might have been just to get Jozy going a little. Good but not great take. Goalie made a good save.

I think Zusi and Fabian have shown good chemistry on the left side. Fabian looked great and some of that has to be attributed to Zusi creating space for him. Zusi had a few crosses that went awry but I'm not going to lynch him.

Yedlin's crossing is so much more crisp.

Zusi can't maintain possession to save his life.

I'm not digging Omar in the back. I was wondering what Deuce and Jozy would look like together against a sagging D... overall not enough work rate and movement...zero combo play...we need to hit them on the counter when space is open, or overlap the outside backs...just too static from us up top... it makes it easy for Guat to transition and set their D.

Kind of a sleepy game...nobody wants to get hurt ahead of the opener.

Zusi has been really bad Guatamela getting a bunch of chances because Diskerud is behing overwhelmed as cdm. Beckerman will be starting next game and Fabian should move up to lm with garza coming in at left back. Agree with snipes on the player assessments. I think second half bring in morales for diskerud keep beckerman fresh for the honduras game. Bring Zardes in for Zusi and bring in alvarado in for Gonzalez then from there see how the rest of the team plays and make adjustments. Bring out altidore and put in johannson then the final 2 subs based on player fitness concerns.

My biggest problem with playing Zusi is that he offers zero pace. There were multiple times we picked up possession and were on a break, and he just couldn't keep up.

+1 with chillguy's subs

and +1 with dunlopp's assessment of Zusi. He got passed by a CB on that MB through ball..

Many of us asked "Why Zusi?" when the roster was released and we got some objections.
None of us really claimed that he sucks or is a bad guy, just that he's a wasted spot when we could break in someone new who is just as good. His time at this level is over.

The roster has like 7 of the Old Guard. We don't need all 7.

And yes, some of Zusi's crosses today were with his other foot. But he did crap against Guatemala, who were not parking the bus. Now he's done for the day.

So... joey11, dolcem, The Truth, skangles...... any thoughts?

Care to rethink your opinions?

I know- I just read like 8 pages of the GC roster thread during half time.

As a whole, though the objectors just said "what's the point?"

Bradley's passing has been suspect in this one. He had the beautiful ball to Yedlin that lead to the goal, but he's also had some really sloppy giveaways.

Carlos Ruiz looks more threatening in his first 5 min than Deuce and Jozy in the whole game...we're just walking around up top...looks like crap.

Still lacking Dynamic play in attack. ARJo for Altidore.
