Matchday for the pre-Gold Cup friendly. Will be interested to see the starting 11. I have a certain fondness for the last Gold Cup team that probably won't be matched (Beasley as captain, Rimando in goal, the final tournaments for us for Landon, EJ, Gooch, Herc, Goodson and my favorite player, Stuart Holden). They started their run with a 6-0 hammering of Guatemala in the tune-up; not expecting that today, but expect a win and a good performance to get us off on the right foot. Tougher group than in 2013 for sure so we'll need to be sharp with Honduras first.

I wish we would play somewhere in the South other than Nashville (not counting Texas and Florida for sake of argument). 4 USMNT matches there 2006 to 2015, plus the ill-fated Olympic qualifiers for 2012. That memory plus my memory of the one qualifier we had there against T&T in 2009 (I got laid off earlier in the day, and happened to be on my way to Nashville the following day for an interview), I'd support seeing us play elsewhere in the South. I have to imagine when the Atlanta team starts and has their stadium we will play there.

Hey I like going to Nashville!!! It does have a centralized location for everyone East of about Kansas City...

Great point about the squad from 2013, and how it was the "end of an era" so to speak. Nostalgia isn't really for Jürgen, and that may be the moment we truly started becoming the team he wanted, after the last Gold Cup.

I'd like to see us destroy Guatemala tonight just to set the tone for the tournament. We are the Billy Badass of this continent.

Jozy/Clint
Bradley
Johnson/Bedoya
Beckerman
Chandler Brooks Alvarado Evans
Guzan

Or something.

I like Nashville too, don't get me wrong, just would like to see other cities in the South get games. I was actually in Nashville last 4th of July, they do a great fireworks display.

Pretty sure the Semi's are in Atlanta for the Gold Cup aren't they?

Yep...one of the Semifinals, hopefully the side the US is on. I like Jacksonville, the turnout is always good and it's convenient for most people in GA, SC, and lower Alabama.

Ah, true, thanks folks for pointing that out. Will be our first match in Georgia since 1977 apparently if we get that far.

I like that Juergen plans on starting his best 11 tonight; however, with our first Gold Cup game on Tuesday I don't like that this game was scheduled for tonight. We could have played this game on Wednesday to allow for more time to rest ahead of an intense Gold Cup schedule.

I would like to start off the game like this:

Jozy
Clint
Zusi. Bradley. Bedoya
Beckerman
Johnson Brooks. Gonzalez yedlin
Guzman

maybe even take another gander at a 352 later on when we need more strikers up top for those teams that will park the bus.

I think you're confused about whether we want JK to keep putting TC at LB or not. The answer is 'not'.

Liking the lineup. An inferior opponent. Go all out.

I dig it. Except Zusi. I would prefer Bedoya.

Very surprising lineup. Shocked to see Omar over Alvarado and zusi and yedlin over zardes, bedoya, beckerman. Like not seeing beckerman as vs Guatemala we don't need a defensive mid.

I am guessing this will also be the lineup also against Haiti. I am thinking Beckerman comes in at cdm and Bedoya comes in rm for the honduras game. Diskerud at cdm and yedlin starting at rm works more for haiti and guatamela then honduras and panama.
