I've interpreted the opposite. Ramos said that every time you look at the roster and theres a player you say how is he not on the roster. He implied that was Akale this year and said things along the lines of he couldnt find a way to fit him into the roster without hurting it somewhere else. It seems like he didnt view Akale as a starter (right or wrong) and wanted others for flexibility/short bench. He could be the Lynden Gooch of this cycle.

I've never understood why youth tournaments limit the squad size to less than Sr. tournaments. It seems counter intuitive to me considering that younger players are more apt to be reckless (garnering more cards/suspensions) and a greater opportunity for injuries. These youth tournaments are suppose to be about showcasing players and giving young players experience.

Instead we put a greater limit on the number of players which often forces coaches to take more versatile players at the expense of someone who is more of a specialist. I feel bad for guys like Akale, Perez, and the others who won't get the opportunity to attend the tournament....

There was a friendly today between US U-20s and the Japan U-20's. Lagos Kunga scored both goals, 2-1 final score! Good job guy I had never heard of until a few days ago!

I just remembered.... was Matthew Olosunde even considered? Highly rated in Man U sure he could have been an asset, of course if he was released

Lagos Kunga has been on a the radar for awhile. He can be a huge x-factor for the u20's.

Kunga and Williamson offer more two way play for this team according to Ramos than Mukwelle Akale does.

I think Sargent should start at forward his runs are superior to the other u20 strikers....

I enjoy the fact that there is little concern about a highly touted Manchester United youth player getting left off a US U-20 roster. We are entering magical times.

Not to mention a regular in the Chelsea U-23 team.

I think Ramos is building a team rather than a group of individuals and is trying for some cohesion. Fair play to him for that...just hope there is enough quality for a long run in the tourney.

I think that may be optimistic. If the defense is as stout as it has the potential to be they'll be a tough opponent for most teams they face, but can Sargent and the rest of the attackers deliver goals is the critical question.

honestly, I expect more. I hope sergeant can provide that strength we were missing up top. I do believe our strength is our defense and midfield. I think with brooks Lennon getting minutes along with the other boys showing well we will see a more potent attack. hopefully. Either way, zelalem needs a good showing here.
