With the end of our run in this u20 WC, I'll do what I did back in 2013 after that u20 WC. And say we have a lot more to look forward too in the next cycle.

The next u20 cycle 97s/98s should be even more exciting to watch and should make it even further in WC if not win.

Here's just small player pool mostly consisting of eligible players with professional clubs and other players called frequently. All players on list have been called by US at some point. There's still the college players and RANDOM PLAYERS that will POP UP from here until then. So it'll grow a ton.

Next U20 cycle (97s/98s):

JT, Klinsmann, Vom Steeg, Silva, Pulisic

Glad(RSL), Paelez, EPB(SKC), CCV(Tottenham), Redding(Orlando), Duncan, Jones, Robinson(Everton), Chavez(Tijuana), Barbir(West Brom), Pineda

Obinwa(Hannover), Scott(Chelsea), Swanson(Columbus), Fernandez(Chicago), De La Torre(Fulham), Pulisic(Dortmund), Yueil, Akale(Villareal), Lindley, Zendejas(FC Dallas) Zelalem(Arsenal)

Craft(FC Dallas), Mansaray(Seattle), Elney, Wright(Cosmos), Lennon, Saucedo(RSL), Perez(Fiorentina), Korenuik(Vitesse),Gallardo(Monterey), Vazquez(Tijuana)

But wow look at that list, as I said we got a lot to look forward too in next cycle.

Predicting 21 man squad:
(Based on player pool)
GK: Klinsmann, JT, Silva

Def: Redding, Robinson, Barbir, Glad, Pineda, Paelez

Mid: Obinwa, Akale, Scott, Pulisic, Zendejas, Swanson, De la torre, Perez

Fwd: Mansaray, Saucedo, Vazquez, Lennon

------Klinsmann----
Glad-Redding-Pineda-Robinson
------Obinwa-----
-Akale- -De la Torre-
----Pulisic-----
--Mansaray--Saucedo--

--------JT------
Paelez-Redding-Barbir-Robinson
------Swanson------
-Zendejas-- --Perez--
---Scott---
----Vazquez--Lennon---

The squad doesn't include Zelalem, CCV, or EPB because they could be with the senior team. And I wanted to show the depth of this team. But I hope they will be with the u20s, their experience would be valuable.

Midfield will be our biggest strength in this cycle.

My .02 on some of the Fire kids-
Pineda- not in the league of the others, but solid player. Better than jovan torre and Conor donovan for a look at the quality of depth. Won't make the u20 WC though.
Fernandez- Quality left foot, built like a tank for a midfielder. Waiting to see how the next year or so goes for him. In chicago we would like to see him later this year.
Cam Lindley- the best of the three, and a natural leader. Better than marky Delgado.

Early guess on stars - EPB, Pulisic, Zendejas, Akale.

Haji Wright will be in the mix.

The next team is going to lack height as well.

ATM, this is close to how I'd guess the u-20's would look in 2017:

Pulisic(18)-----Gallardo(19)-----Perez(19)
-----------Akale(20)------------
---de la Torre(19)---???-------------
???---Redding(20)---EPB(20)--Olosunde(19)
-------------???--------------

I'd have Wright in there, but Gallardo looks to be a better #9 and Perez has looked better on than him on the wings in the last year. Also, Dortmund seems to be playing Pulisic as a winger #10 or a straight up forward.

Also I have no educated guess as to who the GK, LB, and #6 might be. Lots of possibilites, no clear front runner IMO.

Vazquez and Mansaray have height so if they make the final squad we'll have them as well, hope Wright doesn't stay at Cosmos..

No way Lennon doesn't start, he has had an amazing season this year. He's top scorer in the league, also should be going to Liverpool soon as well.

Also mention that four of the eligible players have already won silverware in Europe this season so they are already turning into trophie winners.

Akale 2 trophies, Obinwa the Pokal, and Pulisic u17 championship, all winning in their first season at club. Scott won Uefa champions league as well.

Yes, but I doubt CCV and Zelalem hang around another 2 years with the u-20's. Those guys will be pushing for a u-23 Olympic slot if not a Senior Cap in the next couple years.

We'll see. That's been a rumor since they had him on trial two years ago....nothing as come of it yet. Not sure if it's a work permit issue or that Liverpool can't decide or Liverpool isn't interested.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
