Jara's 3 games got changed to 2 on appeal.

Why are refereeing and admin decisions such an epic joke?

It's so easy to referee with a good philosophy when you also have cameras and can retroactively banhammer players for stuff you didn't catch during the game.

1) Don't call it if you're not sure. Don't eject people for nothing.

2) Catch shenanigans and violent conduct on video and make those bans brutal.

3) That's it.

Shit is so crooked that I'm surprised it's even effectively crooked anymore.

I disagree with your first point. Its one of my complaints with NFL officiating now. Anytime theres a questionable play they let them keep going and depend on the replay for them. Since their rules are weird and can only overturn certain plays they always let them go. The problem is it can kill momentum and flow of the game. It slows things down, and sometimes there is no good camera angle. I think refs should call the game as if there is no replay and use it as needed instead of making calls based off using replay.

I 1000000% agree with your number two point. They should have stricter penalties for things caught on tape that arent called during the game. For instance if Jara got a red (which he deserved) during the game then I would have given him a 2 game suspension, really 1 game on top of the red card suspension. Since they missed it he should get at least 3, 2 that he'd get anyways, and at least 1 for finishing a game he souldnt have been in (I would argue an extra game for causing an opponent ejection but would be ok with 3).

That's cool, but I wonder if you've reffed...? I really think it's worse when you call what you think happened, than when you call only what you know happened, and just don't make a call when you don't know what happened.

It makes you look crooked or stupid or subconsciously biased or vindictive or blind, etc. a lot faster than when you just didn't catch something. They can only call you blind or stupid on those.

I used to ref up to U18, never did high school as I was going off to college and didnt keep the liscence up.

I see your point and agree to it that you should only call fouls that you see. I was more talking about using replay to make the calls for you. You see it in NFL all the time where they let a catch that looks incomplete, or a fumble play continue because the refs are terrified of calling it dead and not being able to look at replay. Instead they 95% of the time go with the play that can be overturned. They use replay as a crutch, instead of a tool.

A video of some of Jara's transgressions. Watch at 0:25 when he touches Cavani...isn't the American commentary a bit...weird...there?

How does beIN get away with calling their crap footage "HD" on Comcast? This is barely SD. It's false advertising.

Chile wins their first Copa America it was a pretty tense game lots of fouls but in the end Chile becomes the 8th member of conmebol to win a copa america. Only Ecuador and Venezula have not won a copa america. I bet argentina is hoping so badly that a 2016 copa america ends up happening because this might be the last chance for Mascherano Lavezzi Zabaleta Demicheilis Tevez to win one.

Huge bummer. This was my chance to see a big victory in Argentina and they blew it again. Boring game as well too (aside from the start). It's the same problem Argentina and Brazil always have had for the past ten years or so. None of these players play in the same leagues. They all play different styles and there's no way to incorporate all of them well into a coherent unit with a well-defined identity.

Messi fails again. Not worthy of being in the conversation with Pele, Zidane, Brazilian Ronaldo or Maradonna until he wins some International Hardware.

Messi is Argentina. He shouldn't be blamed but he should be held accountable. Everyone wants to put him that GOAT conversation. He needs to be stepping up in the big games if he wants to be in the conversation with Maradonna.

I found the game pretty entertaining for a 0-0. It's the final, neither team wanted to make a mistake but both sides still had their chances.
